If you're planning on getting into butchering and need to butcher something, try to aim a bit lower.
In the case of Mike, his head was decapitated in such a way that a part of his brain was left behind. For the next 18 months, he survived without a head until the day he choked on his own spit.
On a side note, Mike was a chicken.
(Also don't aim too low or you'll be left with a bodiless monstrosity)
