Absolute No Tolerance Rule
The absolute no tolerance in the case of a physical fight rule definitely has a reason to exist. Otherwise it would be too hard for a teacher to judge what really happened. It also encourages students to tell a teacher about the incident and thus sometimes prevents fights. But I personally never really liked that rule. I believe that if someone else tries to hurt you/hurts you, you have the right to beat him/her up. That is the only way to make sure someone never messes with you again. At some point you have to understand that that's the way things are.
Sure the absolute no tolerance rule is great since it will prevent fights, but that's only until students find out how useless the school punishment system is.
