World of magic: Vampiric Reincarnation

The year is 2190. The genre of DIMMVRRPG for VR games has been ruling over the world's entertainment world for 20 years. However, one game monopolized most games in a matter of 2 years, it was Volos. The game is heavily based on Slavic Mythology. For 10 years the game was a playground for many players, among them there was Nikodem. His Guild - The Oak Tree has risen quickly to #10. However, after those 10 years. the game has decided to shut down its servers. After long minutes of crying. Nikodem decided to go outside, to forget about what happened, but instead of forgetting what happened, he got stabbed, by a man. After which, he got reincarnated, as a vampire? Let's see how Nikodem will rise in the new world. The cover is not mine, it's by Kogasa. Or so I believe. From what I know it represents Touhou, however, it's the best art that represents the main character. I hope you won't mind. Discord contact: Yu.#3554

Chapter 12: Medal, Despair and Challenge.

I tried another way of writing my novel, do you think it's better this way?

I tried writing it in Polish first and then translating it into English, and I think I did okay.

Of course, there are also parts that I wrote myself using English, but I only used that when I had no idea how to write something in Polish

I hope you will enjoy it!

---------------------------------

Before Harlow, he went into his room. He noticed a great many injured people.

Who was surprised, Harlow's group alone had hardly died.

The wolves were many, and they were smart enough to use flanking tactics.

Imagine what it was like in Class A and B where they needed 5 people to kill one wolf!

Normally Harlow would have restrained himself from his vampire impulses, but now where 1/3 of the students were wounded, and 1/3 of those wounded students were badly wounded, and there was a lot of blood it was hard to calm your instincts.

It was a professional task, Harlow barely made it out of there, and ran to his room.

He was lucky that he had tasted blood recently, had it not been for that, his instincts would probably have taken his consciousness away, and he would have woken up in the next candle or burned.

That kind of thing, no one would want.

He wasn't even sure if there was a third time. What if, it was that one special moment, one in three billion.

Then, it probably wouldn't be reborn again.

That was the problem.

As Harlow lay down in his bed, he suddenly felt sleepy, or rather, he himself wanted to sleep of his own accord.

Vampires shouldn't sleep, especially at night. It was a phenomenon that could not be explained.

A vampire who can sleep is rare but during the day... A man had never seen anything like it. In addition, Harlow had an immunity to the sun.

Before going to sleep, he had a lot of thoughts, most were about his old life. He remembered the good times and the not-so-good times... Just like a lot of people recall cringe moments before bed.

'Haaaa... Thinking like that will only give me depression'

Mi mo it, he kept thinking about it. He remembered when he could still call someone, in the army a friend.

He remembered, still the revolution that was in his country, and he near the commander of that revolution.

'Oskar... I wonder if you have also been reborn... Even if you are, you will probably die by heart attack as you find out what happened to your revolution after you died.''

Yes, the revolution.

A barbaric thing, but the most appropriate. Violence always works better than democracy, more than one country has proven that.

That was it, remembering your good times.

I Harlow may have been 'dead' by now, but he was still a nationalist. He still remembered what happened to his nation when he was young.

I wonder if anyone even came to his funeral. No, if it had been held at all it would have been wonderful.

Harlow fell fast asleep.

It didn't take long for him to finally start sleeping of his own accord.

Alone out of grief.

The next day, just as he woke up and left the room, he was called to the same room as yesterday.

Could it be that again, they were going to go out and kill monsters?

Well, Harlow soon found out that was not true.

As soon as he walked in, they started applauding, he didn't know why.

But, he soon saw the people standing on the platform and their medals.

'So they are giving medals. But we are only at school, I have not heard that such a thing is possible, well this is a fantasy world, I do not know what to expect..... And yes, probably for these medals of 'my own will' they'll draft me into the army... What a pain in the ass.'

Even if it was a pain in the ass, Harlow had to accept this offer, if not, it meant that 1 I don't want to serve the nation. 2 He doesn't know what Honor, God, Fatherland means.

Honor, God, Fatherland. It was the motto of Germania, the country he was in. It meant what it said.

When he first heard it, it reminded him of the motto of his old country, Poland, where he had lived not long ago.

There, only it was a different order because there it was: God, Honor, Homeland.

That was it.

Now Harlow was about to enter the stage, and there he saw a man. He was dressed in white robes with many badges. He had many scars and would frighten even the toughest men on earth.

It was the Marquis.

Fuck, fuck, fuck! If this man gives me a medal, so much the worse... For some it's an honor, for me it's anguish.

Exactly, anguish. But an even greater torment would be not to accept this honor. Then he would have two options:

One. Fly out of the country.

Flying out of the country, one of the worst options, but also the best. In other countries he might be treated better, or simply better than in the Empire, but who knows, it was possible that he would be treated even worse there, or mages in general. He knew from history that in this world there were countries that did not accept mages.

Such countries usually did not survive even a single war.

The second for this was to live without absolute honor or even meet death.

No one has to explain to anyone how bad this option is.

So, Harlow, as he saw no better option simply accepted the offer.

"On this day.... Harlow..... Receives Award...."

The Marquis gave some kind of boring speech, but for a large number of the gathering, it was a speech that boosted their morale.

Harlow, for that matter, waited patiently for him to finally, after five minutes, finish his chatter, and give him a medal. Two to be exact.

The first medal was the Emerald Medal. It was a medal given to people who not only saved the company but also led their team to victory.

Harlow did it all. He saved Henneck once and led his team to victory.

The second medal was for 10 kills.

It was called the Invincible Ace Medal.

If 10 kills is an ace, how many mages die in such expeditions?

Well, only the S class killed something.

There was also a third so-called 'medal' but it only had a symbol that Harlow and the others had participated in this offensive.

And there was Elizabeth, right next to him.

He got the Fresh Ace Medal.

5 kills.

She sat there proudly, And looked at Harlow, with infatuation.

Harlow was the best of the students, but he didn't stand proud.

Some knew it for lack of courage or lack of loyalty. And others for simply not thinking he had killed enough.

Decisions were divided.

The day after that passed quickly, nothing happened, nothing special was learned.

A week went by like that.

Nothing special happened. By this time, Harlow already knew a few third-level spells.

Now, he could officially call himself a "Mage".

Yes, it was from level 3 onwards that someone could call themselves a "Mage".

This meant that Harlow automatically got a better treatment.

His class started with 2nd level spells.

But that didn't mean they were weak.

Quite the opposite, they were even stronger than before, by being offensive.

But, And so, Harlow rose in the rankings. He was now, Second Worst, not the worst of the class. Which meant that Harlow had potential, even possibly more than them.

Well, compared to them. Harlow had unlimited potential.

Even if he had, a maximum level of 100. It would still, Gluttony would allow him to grow.

Maximum level... Yes... It was not something that everyone had the same. Everyone had a different maximum level. Elizabeth, for example, has a maximum level of 1245. And Henneck, for example, has a maximum level of 955.

Those are very high levels anyway. For example, the administrator has a maximum level of 999. So, for example, Elisabeth has more potential.

Well, that was it.

This week, Elisabeth, again went up to Harlow, but he was like a black hole, he didn't understand anything. But for that, he became her friend.

The second time he called someone a friend, he hoped it wouldn't go the same way, and he wouldn't go back to the 'single-player life again.

He could only hope, you never know what happens in life.

For Harlow, it was time, even better than the ten years of him playing Volos.

The time he spent with Elisabeth was truly wholesome in his opinion, and that worked oppositely as well.

He learned a lot about her during that time.

He knew things she liked, he knew her character [The one she showed him] and other things. This one knew her past. But he himself, could not tell his own.

After that week, just as he was about to rest, a letter came to him.

This letter was no ordinary letter. Harlow already knew what it was about as he had seen it once before.

A duel.

As much as he didn't want it, he had to.

Probably someone heard he got the emerald medal, and got jealous and challenged him to a duel.

Time to see who.

The student, Konrad Pfender, announced a duel against the student Harlow Shallfear.

The reasons were as follows: To test the true skills of student Harlow and To dishonor the Red Tower.

Accordingly, disciple Harlow Shallfear should go at 10:00 [10 am] to the arena.

If student Harlow Shallfear does not agree to duel, he will be expelled from school for his dishonor.

Same thing, the only things that changed were the reasons and the student.

What could he do, he had to show up.

It was now 6, he had 4 hours to show up, which was plenty.

In that time, he could calculate tactics on his opponent.

He didn't know how powerful he was, and it wasn't even which year he was from.

'But he's just a peasant... He probably thinks that if he beats me, he'll be famous or something....'

And so, Harlow was forced to get up when he didn't want to.

But well, maybe if he beats his opponent so that he doesn't get up, then who knows, he'll get a break for the whole school!

There's also the option that if he loses, everyone will give him a break because he's nothing special.

But in doing so, he will also lose his privileges.

The only option now was to win.
