The line between reality and illusion is blurry. What actually is real? Atlas after a desperate turn of events gets an ominous task from a tree.... Could this be the only way to find out the truth? As the one blessed by the World, it is his duty to protect it but is he willing to? and what is he supposed to protect it from. And where does his GM authority fit into all this? PS. The main character is only interested in men and while there may be romantic tension and possibly long term romance if it fits into the plot it's not the driving force of the book. Magic 101

After calming himself down, Atlas opened the door. Alya was already seated next to Axelle and they were talking about something in hushed tones. Axel was seated at their back silently trying to listen to their conversation but was obviously failing.

When he saw him his eyes lit up and he hurriedly patted the chair next to him. Atlas nervously sat next to him.

"Can you understand anything they're saying." Atlas asked frustrated. By now the two girls were lost in their own world, oblivious to their surroundings. Atlas leaned in close and heard their very loud whispers.

"Axelle is telling Alya about the son of a Baron who confessed to her at her debutante ball last year...." He paused trying to make more sense of their jibberish. "Alya is telling her abou—" He hurriedly put his hand on his sister's mouth before she said anything embarrassing and dragged her to a corner of the room.

"What are you doing?" He said in the same voice the two girls were conversing with forgetting that Axelle could understand him.

"I was telling her about that time that we caught Otto in a bar with a pros—" Axelle said after she managed to pry Atlas's hand from her mouth, Atlas quickly covered her mouth before she could say another word. They didn't seem to notice the other siblings that had crept up to them and were listening to their conversation.

A sudden snore interrupted all of them. They blankly looked at each other before staring at the figure on the table. He? was clothed in official Mage robes signifying that he was at least a Magician. Axelle slowly walked towards the man hesitantly before saying.

"Mr Long?" She said hesitantly touching him. The instant she touched him he jumped up immediately.

"Wh- ahh... young lady it's you. " You and your friends were preoccupied so I thought I might take a nap." He yawned, his black hair resting messily on his head, his eyes were covered with dark circles, looking like a literal embodiment of laziness.

------------------

A few minutes later, they were all settled down. Long brought out a transparent round ball out of nowhere.

"Before I explain anything about mana, you have to test for your element affinity. The young masters have already tested theirs but for the sake of novelty why not do it again." He motioned for someone to come up, Axelle immediately sprang up and hopped to the ball. She placed her hands on the ball and it immediately began to glow with a vibrant green and red colour. Apart from the red and green colour there was a dull brown colour.

" High affinity for Fire and wind and Low affinity for Earth." Long said dully.

After that Alya hesitantly walked up to the ball. She placed her hands on it and it instantly shone with a blinding light making everyone except from Long shut their eyes, after about a minute the light subsided and it was reduced to a normal brightness.

"Perfect affinity for Light and high affinity for Fire." Long let out a low whistle. On her chair Axelle looked excited while Axel was nonchalant. Atlas was dumbfounded.

'P-perfect affinity!' He thought mouth hanging wide open. Alya looked pleasantly surprised and skipped over to Axelle happily. Atlas nervously walked to the ball before placing his hand on it. Blinding light flooded the room as soon as he did.

DING!

---------------

The list was longer but Atlas didn't have time to think and he hurriedly pressed the Lightning option. The blinding light receded and Atlas stared at ball. It was shining with a vibrant blue and brown.

"Perfect affinity for Lightning!" Long said eyebrows slightly raised. Atlas could hear Alya's excited chattering as he walked to his chair.

Axel confidently walked to the ball and placed his hand on it. Another blinding light flooded the room, when they opened their eyes they saw the brown colour in the ball but it was overpowered by the dark red.

"Perfect affinity for Lava and high affinity for Earth." Long said with a dull tone as if it was expected. Only Alya and Atlas were surprised.

"Let's begin the lesson." Long said as if he was discussing the weather.

--------------------

"What exactly do you know about mana?"

"Mana is an omnipresent energy found everywhere and people with the ability to sense it have an affinity with it's different forms can study it to become Mages." Alya said.

"It is used to cast spells, physically empower someone or power an artifact." Atlas supplemented.

"Not a bad answer. What are different ranks of Magic users?"

"Magic users start out from Magic Apprentices before becoming Magic Scholars, Magicians, Mages, Archmages, Saints and finally ascend to the Transcendent level." Atlas said pausing for a breath. "The only recorded Saints are the previous generations of the Royal Family."

"What is a Mana core?"

"A Mana core is a core present in almost every living beings body that allows them to use magic. Mana is refined through the mana core allowing Magic Users to cast spells or empower themselves." Alya replied

"Good answer! Since you already basic knowledge then do know how to circulate Mana through your core?"

Atlas and Alya shook their heads. Long handed them a book.

"Go read this later, it contains the safest method circulating Mana." He said and outright walked out of the room leaving his dumbfounded students behind. The four people in the room stared blankly at each other wondering if it was alright for him to leave just like that.

-------------------

Atlas was perched on a window watching Axel train his swordplay, the boy was swinging his word as if he was battling an invisible opponent but to Atlas that didn't matter, the most important thing was that Axel wasn't wearing a shirt, his upper body was completely bare! Much like his father, he had a bulky frame with large muscles that weren't as big as his father's, his tanned skin glowed under the sun almost making Atlas drool.

He wiped his chin before slowly,. reluctantly leaving the window taking one last glance at Axel.

Alya has run off Axelle to the library wanting to learn about Light Magic.

He would go to study the book that Long had given him and those weird blue screens.

The descriptions of Axel were definitely not to fill up the word count..... definitely not.
