Chapter 011- Merton moaned with delight

Ivanna scampered into her room with unstable legs. Rogue Quinn loathed her, that's what she learned. She knew before, but now it was official. He tried to kill her once, and she had a feeling he would try again.

Her bags were inside the room opposite Rogue, she was sure he picked the room opposite hers to keep an eye on her.

The struggles she went through inside his room floored into her mind, making her ball her fingers. Rogue was messing with the wrong girl.

She freshened up, and a servant came to her door and informed her that Mr. Quinn was back.

Walking down the stairs, she realized the family was at the dining table.

"Good evening, Mr. Quinn," She said with a formal tone, she didn't want to sound that way, but it just came out.

"It's Gary for you, Ivanna, I'm family." Mr. Quinn said with a smile.

The dining table consisted of twelve seats and only two occupied it. Mr. Quinn and Rogue.

"My mistake, Mr. Qui- Gary, Gary." She coughed a little as she corrected herself.

The dinner was silent, probably because of the absence of Roman. God, she was bad for wishing he wasn't found on time.

"Weren't you in college?" Gary asked, breaking the silence. "Your father, Peter, said you only dawdle the first semester at a private university. Was there a problem?"

Ivanna tightened the clutch on her spoon, and this didn't miss the eyes of Rogue. "Oh, that. I wanted to go for a different course, but I… I wanted to study at a place where people aren't contemptuous." She had no idea what she was saying. But Gary seemed to believe that.

"Then you'll attend the university here, the students and profs are admirable. You don't have to worry, it's owned by the Quinns." Mr. Quinn turned to Rogue. "And besides, Rogue would also be attending."

"Uhh?" Ivanna looked between the father and son. Did she miss something?

Rogue ogled with a stiff jaw at his father. A shrewd intent flew through his eyes, but he squeezed his spoon to control himself.

"Rogue is still in uni?"

"He didn't pass his exam to enter into a university."

Ivanna couldn't believe this. She knew Roman completed his education a year ago, but his twin brother hadn't even started at base one.

"I don't need education," Rogue said with a calm declaration, a tone Ivanna recognized as a calm-before-the-storm tone. He was getting angry. "I'm fine the way I am."

Mr. Quinn eyes narrowed at his son. "Remember what we discussed, Rogue. You need to keep to your part of the deal."

Rogue took in a deep painful breath, Ivanna was already anticipating what his next words were. "There was never a clause that said I had to go to school. I'm too old for that."

"Education isn't about age. Rogue. And yes, there was a clause about education. You just choose to skip the part."

Ivanna heard the 'fuck' word Rogue said under his breath. She glanced at Mr. Quinn to see if he heard what his saint of a son said. But of course, he didn't.

"But father-"

"You do as I say, Rogue. What has gotten to you? You never refuse me." Mr. Quinn stood up angrily from his chair and stormed away.

Why does it feel that a hidden tension was in the household?

"Done watching?" His cold voice made goosebumps rise on her skin. "Why didn't you record a video?" She realized he was trying to use her to get the tension off him. Was he planning on beating her, killing her? God, she had been overthinking after the first incident at the party.

"Uh, thanks for the meal." She said carefully and stood from her chair. Being in the dining room alone with Rogue sounds dangerous. She didn't wait for his reply and sprinted away.

_____________

"That old man just doesn't learn, does he?" Merton growled as he twirled his chair. "What does he mean by sending you back to school? He's probably trying to clear his conscience and the unpleasant rumors of people calling his youngest son an illiterate."

Rogue wasn't listening to his ramblings, he was lost in thoughts. He was thinking about how to turn the situation around. After glancing through the documented deal with his father, he realized the Education aspect was there. He had ignored it.

"Do you have any idea where Roman is?" He inquired, since his mind couldn't come up with an idea. "That boy is the only solution to this problem."

"None yet. But I'm having a feeling he's with the Solomons, that fucking piece of shit family took him."

"So what are we gonna do?" Marius asked as he kept aside the book he appeared to be engrossed with. "We are well aware the cops won't be seeing him soon,"

"We will visit the Solomons Mansion. They must be expecting us."

"Finally, time for some action!" Merton moaned with delight.

"You're staying behind the computer, Merton, you're not trained to fight a real fight, you're only taught to hack into systems," Marius said with a serious tone. "You aren't getting yourself killed on a mission I'm participating in."

Merton couldn't let go of the scowl on his face. "You-"

"Knock it off," Rogue said and wore a coat on a chair. "Maybe next time, Merton, but you're more useful behind those machines. Check the system to know where Roman is." He paused and arranged his clothes. "Let's go,"
