Irresistible Charm

"Hey wake up, it's morning," The girl whispers to the boy's ear, he jolts from his deep sleep.

"I thought you said you won't be able to sleep, but look at you, sleeping like a baby," The girl mocks him.

The boy sighs in irritation, his condition has not progressed even a little bit. Even to rise, he needs some support from the girl. What a high price he should take after making a rash decision following the girl's plan. It's time for him to be more logical at a time like this. He should stop pampering the girl, and instead be more stern with her.

He likes her, but that does not mean she can do whatever she wants.

"Can you be more gentle to me? I'm sick," The boy speaks in a coarse voice.

The girl stands for a moment and displays a look of remorse, "Right, sorry,"

"I think you should sleep again in bed now, I'll ask the man whether he has some food for you," The girl helps the boy to rest his body in the bed.

The boy wants to stop her from doing anything with the man. Regardless, he knows too well that he is in no condition to be by her side at all times. The only thing that he could do now is hoping that the man is genuinely a good person and his condition gets better.

"I know you're skillful at using guns," The boy rasped.

"But still, be careful of that man,"

The girl is standing in the kitchen beside the man. She has never been a good cook her entire life, even back in the woods, she and the boy mostly eat heated canned food. Earlier before, when she asked the man whether she could have some food, the man dragged her at once to the kitchen. He thought that it will be a good idea for them to cook for the boy. So, there they are.

"Listen, sir…I don't think this is a good idea, I never really cook, can you just give me some canned food, instead?"

"Oh Dear, I'm sorry, do you perhaps feel uncomfortable around me?"

"Oh no…I just like instant food? Isn't that what we all eat since….the world is ending?"

"Again sorry, I just feel lonely lately, I lost my wife and my son," The man speaks as he washes the rice.

"Right…we lost our family," the girl listens to the man attentively.

"I used to cook with my wife all the time when she's still alive," His eyes flickered with sorrow, in seconds, tears fall from his eyes.

"I'm so sorry for you sir, I have no words to say," The girl sympathizes with the man's story.

The girl begins to cut the carrot clumsily. The man chuckles and then wraps his body around her effortlessly. The next moment, he touches the girl's hand slowly. The girl stays frozen, too surprised to even do anything. She senses the man's breath on her neck. His left cheek nudges hers.

"This is how you do it," The man murmured in her ear while holding the girl's hand to show her how to use the knife.

"Sir…I think you're too close," The girl talks in a low voice.

"Right, sorry…" The man retreats back to his place. "You keep reminding me of my wife," He brushes the girl's hair, and holds the strands of her golden hair strongly while locking his eyes with her.

It is something about the man's eye. He has endearing deep brown eyes that are hidden away behind his glasses but the girl can see them. His eyes are captivating. The man's eyes are pulling her in. Even though, she clearly knows that he could be half of his age. There is no doubt, that he used to be a heartbreaker. His irresistible charm is gravely intoxicating. There is a strange tension dispersed around the kitchen.

"Did something happen between you and the man?" The question comes out of the boy's mouth like a lightning in the middle of a sunny day.

"No, nothing happened," The girl gulps down, stunned by the boy's 6th sense.

She's so bad at lying.

Something happened. his eyebrows creased.

"I told you to keep your distance from him," The boy holds in his anger.

"Oh come on, just finish the porridge I made you, I'm going to wash it after this," The girl pleads.

The boy abruptly eats his porridge and puts it down on the floor.

"Come closer, " He says.

"What for?" The girl's eyes glow with curiosity.

"Just do what I tell you," The boy's voice becomes firm.

The girl sits in the bed, moving closer to the boy.

"Closer," He speaks again.

The girl's heart pounds faster. She's only inches away from the boy. The boy leans closer to the girl's head. She closes her eyes expecting a second kiss. Instead, the boy smeared her colored lip balm with his thumb on the corner of her lips. The girl instantly blinks, her pupil dilates bigger.

"What are you doing?" She's embarrassed for thinking that it was gonna be their second kiss. Her entire face flushes.

"Here, you can go back and wash the bowl," The boy passes her the bowl that he put on the floor before.

"But don't fix your smeared lip balm, just let it be," He smiles mischievously.

"Why would I do that?" The girl shouts angrily.

"Just believe me for once," he answers calmly.

The girl slams the door while bringing the bowl to the kitchen.

The boy stares at his thumb stained by the girl's colored lip balm. He places this thumb on his lower lip.

"Tastes like cherry," he says.
