"Okay, update me. What have you found? Any useful leads? How do you plan to fix this? Did you just call me here for nothing?" Lucas asked at once.
"Mr. Lucas, calm down. Do you expect me to answer all your questions at once? Take it one at a time." Erik replied.
"Don't you ever tell me what to do!" He yelled at Erik.
"What question do you want me to answer?" Erik said, totally ignoring Lucas' comment.
"Why is my presence needed in this office today?"
"I wanted to notify you on the current situation of the flower deteriorating case. It turns out that the toxin used in the flowers are from Dark Laboratories. We got a lead. But no solution."
"So you don't have a solution?"
"Yeah, I literally just said that. What do we do next?"
"Find a solution."
"The toxin cannon be studied."
"Find. A. Solution." Lucas commanded.
"Okay sir." Erik said, annoyed.
"I can see your irritation."
Erik didn't speak instead he simply told him, "please leave my office, I have work to do."
Lucas left the office and Erik sat down, brainstorming. A few minutes later, Matt came in.
"Hey, bro!" He said in his conventional cheerful manner.
Erik, on the other hand, looked as gloomy as ever.
"Hey." Erik finally replied without an expression.
"What's wrong? "He inquired, worried.
"Nothing much, it's just Lucas."
"What did he do?"
"He wants us to find a solution."
"That should be easy for you."
"I know, it's just the toxin, it's very hard to study."
"Hmm."
Matt and Erik chatted away for what seemed like hours.
'Nothing can separate brothers.'
. . .
Prime Minister Office.
3:32 PM.
Knock-knock.
"Come in." The Prime Minister, Martin responded.
As the door clicked open, Lucas went in.
"Good afternoon sir." Lucas bowed in respect.
"To what do I owe this visit?" He asked, lighting his cigarette.
"I'm here to report the information I just received from Erik."
"Hmm." He nodded his head.
"Dark Laboratories is the main suspect. The toxin used is from the lab."
"That's none of your business, Lucas. Your job is to find a solution. That is the detective's job."
"Bu…"
"No buts. It's none of your business. Keep that at the back of your mind."
"Okay sir." He spoke no more. Once the Prime Minister tells you something, it's best to listen and obey. Lucas knew better than to oppose Martin's decision.
"Now, use the door." Martin commanded.
"Please do not fail to inform the investigators." He begged.
"You have my word." He assured.
Martin had a bad personality. He liked smoking and he was very rude yet he had such a high ranking position. His leadership skills are exquisite and he is remarkably smart. This therefore births the question:
'Would the genius Martin find a solution to this situation?'
