A bet

"Asemi stop it!" The man yelled trying to calm his blushing face.

"Nope, you'll have to show me your new wind breathing move if you want me to Kenta!" The woman named Asemi playfully said.

"Fine, just let me think in pe-" before Kenta could even finish his sentence his head exploded like a watermelon.

Once Susamari killed one of the slayers, the two demons jumped down from atop the building. Asemi was still stunned by the death of her friend but the sound of Makomo and Susamaru landing snapped her out of it.

She knew there was no point in asking who they were when the answer was already clear, they were demons. Even if they weren't, they had killed a man in cold blood.

Asemi unsheathed her sword and started to take a deep breath. Her breathing sounded like steam and electricity began to dance around her body.

"Thunder Breathing: Second Form: Rice Spirit!"

Asemi vanished from her spot. She left a small crater where she once stood and appeared behind Susamaru. Before she could even swing her sword Makomo was already on the move.

"Water Breathing: First Form: Water Surface Slash!" A blood colored water streamed from Makamo's sword boosting her momentum.

Makomo ran in front of Asemi and swung her sword towards the woman. Asemi underestimated her because of her size and decided to block the strike.

*Clang!*

Their swords made contact. Makomo came out on top as she sent Asemi flying back.

Strength wasn't Makomo's strong suit. It was her speed and agility, yet after becoming a demon her strength was increased exceptionally and her main attributes were even greater.

Asemi was about to take another breath however Susamaru ran behind her and delivered a strong kick to her back sending the slayer flying once again.

Susamaru turned to Makomo with a smile. "Makomo, want to have a bet?" The demon asked.

"Susamaru, that's immature, master told us to end this as fast as possible." Makomo replied in a matter of fact tone.

"I guess you're just scared~" Susamaru said proactively, covering her mouth with a chuckle.

Makomo's eyebrow slightly twitched hearing the temari demon next to her. "Fine, what is it?"

"Hehe, if I can kill that woman with just my temari balls I want your spot next to master for a week!" Susamaru demanded.

"You've been here for a day and you're already trying to take my position." Makomo sighed, hearing Susamaru's demands.

"Fine but if I win you have to give me all your favorite parts of the bodies we eat for the week in return if I kill her before you." Makomo wasn't worried about losing, she remembered what Shin had said before they took Susamaru in.

Susamaru's smile widened as she giggled. "I've always liked a challenge!"

During this time Asemi tried to catch her breath trying her best to ignore the two demon girls across from her. 'What the hell are they even talking about?!'

Asemi looked towards her partner's headless corpse and the tears she held back started to come back. 'God damnit. I-I'll just have to wait for Miyuki to come back, with her we'll definitely be able to kill them!'

Makomo ran towards Asemi at high speed then began to slash at her repeatedly causing the woman to snap out of her thoughts and barely be able to dance around her attacks.

Susamaru had taken off her Kimono revealing the small sash that covered her chest and upper abdomen.

She grew two arms on each side and summoned her temari before throwing them towards the slayer who was barely hanging on.

Asemi was able to keep up at first but as time went on the demon swinging her sword sped up along with the temari demon throwing her temari, giving her no chance to use her breathing style.

This seemed to have been an eternity to Asemi but in reality, only 10 minutes had passed. Right when she was about to give up she noticed two figures in the distance walking towards them.

One had clothes she could never forget while the other wore a white nagagi kimono with a black haori over it and a fox mask on their face.

"Miyuki!" She called out, her eyes brightened with hope seeing those familiar clothes.

It didn't take long for that hope to turn into despair. When the figures were close enough she found that her best friend was headless and the one holding her corpse had their head in hand.

Her steps faltered, it was a small mistake but that's all it took, one single misstep. A short blue blade fell on her neck. The last thing she was able to see was the stars high above before everything went dark.

*Thud!"

"I win!"  Makomo yelled victoriously, turning towards Susamaru.

"Damnit!" Susamaru clicked her tongue, putting away her extra arms and bouncing one of her temari.

"What are you idiots doing now?" A voice asked behind them.

The girl's expression brightened up hearing the voice they enjoyed so much. They both turned around simultaneously to look at the masked person. ""Master!""

"Mn, good job on killing the two, let's get going." Shin praised the two before turning towards the flashy haori guy. "One of you grab him while the other grabs the girl."

They both nodded their heads. Susamaru went to the guy whose head exploded like a watermelon while Makomo picked up the purple haired woman's head and corpse.

After that they all walked back home with Makomo walking a bit closer to Shin's side, Susamaru could do nothing but mumble and accept her defeat leaving their master slightly confused.

"So master, what breathing style did the slayer you killed have?" Makomo asked.

"Flame." Shin simply answered.

Makomo smiled hearing that. "I remember fighting a flame user on our first night as demons, was she strong?" She asked.

Shin shook his head. "No, she was weak. Though compared other demon slayers I've fought then yes, she could be considered the strongest."

"Why do you say that? The flame user I fought was weak as well but there was nothing unique about her." She looked towards the corpse on his back with slight interest.

He thought back and remembered how the girl fought. "I wasn't using all of my strength but she was still able to take a hit from me and be able to stand. Even after breaking her ribs. Her flames were bright yet she was only able to perform three forms."

"I know I wouldn't have since there are many stronger than her but I thought of turning her into a demon if I was able to.." Shin said.

"Did you try before?" Susamaru decided to ask this time.

Shin shook his head once again. "No, even if I did, it wouldn't have worked. I assume that those closest to the lord like the upper ranks would only have that ability. If every demon did then it would be complete chaos and only cause problems."

""Mn."" Both girls nodded to his words. With that small discussion ending, they continued their walk.
