Meeting the Twins

As the months passed, the idea of having two little brothers did not grow on me. They were babies and they were going to be loud and messy, and they would take Mom and Dad's attention. All of those things were not what I wanted, I wan'ted to be the only child.

However the day that they were born, I couldn't help but be concerned about them. They were early, three weeks early and Mom was not doing to good. She was feverish and sick, and the Doctor said that they had to be born so that everyone had a chance to survive. It was terrifying to think that something could truly go wrong, and that they could have never seen the light of day. Everyone -including unwanted siblings- deserved that much at least.

I guess they got lucky, because the Doctor said that they were both doing well. That was a week ago, and now Mom is getting better as well.

"Ma'am, what would you like to name them?" The Doctor asked walking up to Mom as she blinked awake. "Both of the twins are health, but need to stay in our watch for a bit longer. None of you are strong enough quite yet to leave."

"Charlie and Bernard. Those are there names, but may I see them at least?" Mom asked, nodding to me. "And perhaps there big brother would like to meet them as well."

"Of course, if Don would like to meet them he certainly can. However you kneed to stay in bed for a bit longer. They should be well enough by tomorrow to meet there mother." He responded nodding to me.

"I want to wait, until mom sees them that is. She`s the one who needs to meet them, I don't care." I responded shaking my head, sighing lightly as the Doctor lowered himself to my level. Of course I was going to get another, you will love them if you meet them speech.

"I think they do need to meet you Don, that way they will have some sense of who you are as they get older. Not only that but don't you want to make sure they really are alright, they were born quite early. Sometimes only a sibling can tell if something is off, right from the beginning."He said, voice a slight hushed whisper. "Don't you want to do that much for Mom?"

"Fine." I sighed, crossing my arms are I followed the Doctor to the twin's room. Following him in, I walked up to the side of the machine, gasping lightly at the small curled on the first one's head. "So that's Charlie?"

"Yup, and that one is Bernard." He whispered pointing to the other one. "Why don't you go and check on him?"

Nodding, I walked over to the side, furling my brow as I noticed his ears. They were pointy, almost elf like. I hadn't really noticed with Charlie, but part of me was saying he had them as well. However more importantly, there was part of me that knew one thing. They were going to be a hand full, and I was going to have to deal with it.

I love this one. It was great fun to wright and to get just how much emotion there is in being an older sibling.
