At my worst

The following day was a Wednesday, Claire prepared her son for school, she helped Em drop her children, on her way back home she got a text message from Jeff, it was his house address.

When Claire arrived home she quickly took her bath, she wore a black skirt and and a sky blue top to match it, she wore her black sandals, she didn't put on any makeup, she let her hair down, with this she was good to go. She boarded a bus to his house, arriving his house, Claire couldn't believe what she saw, a mansion was standing tall right before her 'do people actually live in a house like this' she asked herself before going for the gates, it was very easy for her to enter inside the building because Jeff had told the security personnel that a lady will be coming to his house, Claire walked through the large compound, she saw two persons sitting opposite each other, she approached that area slowly, she found out that Jeff was sitting with a lady that looks a lot like him, the two sat in the garden under a mango tree, Jeff nodded his head for her to come in, Claire entered the garden and stood in front of Jeff "sis, meet my secretary Claire and Claire meet my elder sister Kate" Jeff said "nice to meet you" Claire and Kate said simultaneously "seems like it's all business now right?" Kate asked "yes" replied Jeff "take a seat" Kate said standing up for Claire "thank you" Claire responded as she sat on the chair "what should I serve? Wine or water" asked Kate "water will do" Claire responded "make it two glass" said Jeff, Kate left to get their water while Jeff and Claire went to work "this is the statistic of what we are probably to gain at the promo" Claire said turning her laptop for Jeff to take a look at it "how long is the promo going to last" "I think two weeks would be enough" Jeff nodded his head in approval, while he was studying the statistics his sister arrived with two glasses of water, she dropped it on top of the table in between them "baby bro, I will be going home before Jackson arrives" Kate stated, Jeff looked at his sister "I have always told you to file a divorce, you are scared of the man you got married to, I mean does that make sense" Jeff asked "bro it's not easy as you think, bye" Kate said and left.

"Is your sister afraid of her husband?" "Yes, her husband is an abusive man" "why is she still in the marriage?" "Good question, she deliberately refused to divorce him, anyway that her business" "she is your sister, Jeff" "only sister" Jeff corrected "that makes it worse" Claire said "back to work" Jeff commanded and the duo went to work. After an hour, when the sun started to reflect in the garden the two of them entered inside the main building.

Claire was shocked at what she saw, the sitting room was very high and very spacious, the coffee brown chairs were arranged round the whole sitting room, the center table was white and touch of coffee brown, the curtains were coffee brown and cream, opposite the entrance was a seventy~two inches television which was held firmly to the wall, the sitting room was painted coffee brown with images of flowers which have a creamy color, at the left hand side of the sitting room was a large dining room, the table was made up of six chairs which were all coffee brown, on the wall was a large picture of Jeff, Kate and their mother, beside it was a drawing of Jeff on his laptop, Jeff led Claire to one of the chairs, Jeff sat on a single chair which was golden in color, it was different from all other chairs "seems you love coffee brown" Claire said "it's my mom, she did the whole arrangement" Jeff said "Claire, what about your parents, I mean don't you have any relation" Jeff asked, Claire put her head down "my father is late" "sorry about that, your mom?" "My mom is in Asia living her life to the fullest, that bitch is the cause of everything that is going on in my life, she is the sole reason I'm in this condition today, my father wanted the best for but my mom ruined everything thing" Claire said in tears "calm down Claire, just calm down, okay, your mom is in Asia were you guys living together there?" "No, she is the famous star shine of Asia" Claire responded "wait, your mom is …" "yea, my mom is star shine" Claire said in tears, she began to cry, Jeff stood up and held her close to his chest, he allowed her cry out her eyes, realizing that she was in Jeff arms, she pulled away, but it was too late, his white t~shirt was already stained with tears "I'm sorry about …" Claire wanted to talk but Jeff cut her off "shhh" he said placing his index finger on her lips "you need some rest" Jeff said and took her to one of the rooms downstairs, the room had a comfy bed, he laid her down on the bed and left. Some minutes later he came back only to find out she was fast asleep, he admired her, she looked so sweet while she was sleeping, he also needed to rest, he left to his own room.

Claire woke up feeling very strong, she looked at the room, it wasn't familiar at all, finally she remembered she was in Jeff's house, she quickly came down from the bed and went to the sitting room, she looked around, she loved the design, she sat on the chair with her legs crossed she needed to ease herself so she put a slow music and sang along with it.

Jeff stood for a while, the pleasure of the music was really nice, he approached her and found out that her eyes were closed, he sat beside her, suddenly he pulled her close to himself, Claire opened her eyes quickly, this was too much, their faces were very close, they looked directly into each other eyes, boom! It was a kiss.

The kiss was a long one, each of them expressing what they felt, finally they pulled away, Jeff placed his forehead on Claire's and they remained like that for a while, Claire then took two steps backwards "you have a fantastic voice" Jeff said as if nothing happened, Claire was surprised, how could this man cover up after this, she decided to flow along "thank you” "can you sing a song for me?" "Sure, what song should I sing?" "Anyone"

"That's enough, wow, such a nice voice" Jeff complimented, he stood up and walked towards her, he lifted her up and looked directly into her eyes "what have you done to me Claire?" Asked Jeff, he placed his face on her neck and said "I love you" this words made Claire weak, she too had been recently having some feelings for him, she closed her eyes "I love you" Claire said and Jeff raised his head to look at her, he smiled at her, Claire looked at her wristwatch and found out it was time to pick Myles, Ray, and Susan from school "I'm so sorry, I have to take my leave, thank you so much" she hugged him before departing.
