CHAPTER 7- IT'S WORTH A TRY

Under the glowing moon light surrounded by street lamps, May sat still her eyes widened as those words came out loud and clear.

There was no mistaking it, he said it and he meant it , she was used to turning heads and breaking hearts.

Everyone knew her for it but why was he different.Standing above her with his hand stretched out indicating he was trying to assist her in getting up, still wearing that nervous smile on his face.

He mustered up the courage to ask her out, and as his words left his lips, May felt herself growing unexpectedly flustered.

In a desperate attempt to discourage him, she unleashed her sharp wit and sarcasm

"You're joking right, oh wow, the looser I pranked today probably have had enough and in a pathetic attempt to persuade me to stop he comes up to me to ask me out. Maybe after this we can get married and have 10kids and live in your parents basement. That sounds like were your plan was heading too, right?". She teased, hoping to push him away.

She made snide remarks about their incompatibility, their different lifestyles, and even mocked his choice of words. And she made sure not to leave out the part that he was just a new student that she knew nothing about. How weird is that?.

But deep down, May couldn't deny the fluttering feeling in her chest and the genuine intrigue she felt towards this guy. The same feeling she felt back then when she first saw him came back now, making her chest squeeze up.

He wasn't the first to ask her out and might probably never be the last but a part of her really wanted to go out with him but she knew better than to let him think she was an easy target. Why did he suddenly started looking attractive. Was it because of the street light?

She couldn't wrap her head around what was happening right now and thinking too much about it would only make her head hurt

As she continued to shoot him down, she realized that perhaps her tough exterior was just a defense mechanism, a way to shield herself from vulnerability. She couldn't help but wonder if taking a chance on love was worth the risk of getting hurt.

She took his hand as he helped her up. Walking briskly past him, getting a few steps , she stopped, only turning her head,

"You're gonna regret this but you're gonna be the first I will ever give this opportunity to. Don't mess it up or I will make sure you pay".

He was silent. Alucard never thought in his entire life he would get to see a side of May like this.

"Tomorrow after school, you make the arrangements and make sure I have a fun ". She concluded before walking away.

"But one more favor... Please keep this a secret from your friends". Alucard called out as she walked away.

She gave him a thumbs up without looking back to indicate she was going to cooperate.

She also didn't want her friend asking her questions why she accepted him of all people. Even now, she had no answer to that. Her legacy was at stake here. She said to herself, if she made her regret her choices , she was going to make him regret coming here.

Alucard smiled before walking away ,to the train station.they both went their separate ways still in shock at what just happened.

As the final bell rang, signaling the end of another school day, the bustling hallways of the high school emptied out, leaving behind a quiet and serene atmosphere.

Among the few remaining students was May. Her mind has been really uneasy as the thought of this date made her less concentrated in class. She wasn't even able to bully anyone today. She just wished the day would pass by quickly so she can be done with this

Nervously standing outside the school entrance, waiting for her date. Her heart pounded in her chest, and her palms felt clammy, a telltale sign of her extreme shyness.

Yes they met in class but they couldn't speak to each considering how their status in school was. Infact, he acted like she was invincible and that low-key got on her nerves.

Getting worried now, cause this was going to be her first ever date and she didn't want to mess it up.

But where is he now ? She thought. Was he going to make a fool out of her? Despite her anxiety, May was determined to hide her shyness and put on a confident facade for her date.

She wasn't going to give him the benefit of making him see the way he made her feel.

She fidgeted with the strap of her backpack and her hair, trying to distract herself from the overwhelming thoughts racing through her mind.

Taking deep breaths, she focused on projecting an air of calmness and composure, concealing the butterflies that fluttered in her stomach.

She kept her gaze fixed straight ahead, avoiding eye contact with anyone who passed by, afraid of betraying her inner shyness

As each passing minute felt like an eternity, May tried to remind herself of the reasons she said yes to this date - the spark of curiosity, the possibility of new connections, and the potential for growth.

She mustered up the courage, reminding herself that sometimes stepping out of her comfort zone would lead to the most incredible experiences.

But this was all new to her and she honestly had no idea what to do but she soon soothed her thought that if anything goes wrong, she would just blame it on him.

With each passing second, May's shyness began to melt away, replaced with a sense of anticipation and excitement. In that moment, she realized that being shy didn't define her, but rather, it was a part of her that she could embrace and overcome.

Why should she be?

Suddenly she saw him coming from a distance and her stomach tightened once more.

As her date finally approached, a warm smile spread across May's face, a genuine reflection of her newfound confidence and determination.

"Did I make you wait too long?".

He asked , smiling.

She rolled her eyes, only if he had any idea how glad he actually came.

"So Mr date man, where u taking me? . I don't have all day you know ".

Gently grabbing her arm "I know, so let's hurry up ".

Her mind went wild, his hands were soft yet firm. He smelt of pure fragrance and he seemed super calm .

May wondered maybe unlike her, this wasn't his first date.

"Are you shy?". He asked , looking straight ahead.

Why did he ask that question? Can he read minds now? Of course she was shy?. She didn't want him reminding her of that.

"Why do you ask?" She muttered.

Slightly raising both their hands held together for her to see. "Your palm is all sweaty ".

Snatching her hand immediately and putting it to her sides. The date hasn't even started and things were going really bad. She was beyond embarrassed. Gosh, she felt like just going, till he heard him chuckle a bit and grabbed her hand again

"It's ok, to be shy to, but just holding your hands like this is really amazing. I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable ".

"Yeah yeah, whatever, note to self, my hand isn't sweaty because I'm shy, it's just the weather and everything ".

She was being difficult and she was well aware of that fact.

He smiled and said nothing. The silence was so loud but somehow she felt safe with him and actually enjoyed the silence.

As they walked hand in hand towards the cozy cafe, a sense of excitement enveloped the air.

The sun cast a warm glow on their intertwined fingers, creating a picturesque scene of affection.

She couldn't help but steal glances at Alucard beside her, her heart beating rapidly with anticipation. Each step they took together felt like a small victory for her. They haven't said a word to each other on their way here.

Despite her initial hesitations, she was slowly feeling a sense of comfort and trust in the guy's presence, as their hands fit together perfectly.

The quiet and intimate atmosphere of the cafe seemed to mirror the subtle yet undeniable chemistry between them.

As they entered the cafe, her shy demeanor slowly melted away, replaced by a blossoming confidence, knowing that this date might not be as bad as she first imagined it to be.
