The place was hot. I asked myself, am I in hell? The shadow answered, “If you’re in hell you’d be roasted by now.” He made a booming laughter. I could see no mountains, nor hills. It was supposed to be a wilderness, but there were no forests or grasslands either. The place was plain rock all over. I could see no boundary on each side, and don’t even know where was east, west, north or south. I lost all sense of direction. I was in an island floating in mid-air with only the endless horizons looking back at me. I moved to sit myself on one of the protruding rocks and raised my face to look at the sky. It was dark and cloudy a while ago, but now the sun is giving out its brightest rays ever and its hottest temperature. I wished the dark clouds would come back again so that there won’t be no shadow; no adversary to contend with.
