Chapter Forty-Eight

Cierra stood in awe as Goldie reached out her hand and Cid popped into the dark space. It took a moment to completely register that Cid had not come alone. In his mouth was a giant purple bird! Cid had his teeth in the bird's neck, but upon noticing the change in environment he dropped the ostrich like being and pushed his head against Cierra's thigh.

It had been only a few days since she last saw Cid in the dream realms, but she was shocked to see that he had grown yet again. His fur too had changed, with more and more of the orange having turned to white. The only part of him that held any orange now was the area around his belly.

"Thank you," Cierra said, her voice shaking with a mix of shock and gratitude.

Goldie simply nodded, closing her eyes. Cierra couldn't help but stare at them, transfixed by the glimmer of gold that laid under her eyelids.
