Clarke's POV

Raven radios. "I found a rocket! Some of us can go to space. But not many. The rocket only has room for 6 people." "That's amazing!" I say. "We found a bunker that's big enough for the rest of us. Who will go to space?" I ask. "You and Lexa can come if you want. And then I'd have Luna, Bellamy and Octavia go as well. And of of course I'd fly. The bad news is that the radiation will last for six years, so you won't see your family if you're up here. But we need you guys." Raven says. "I'll talk with Lexa. How soon can you get the ticket ready?" I ask Raven. "It'll be close to when the radiation hits, possibly even a minute before." "That's really close." I say. Raven tells us to radio back when we have a decision.

"What do you want to do?" I ask Lexa. "Being alone with you all the time in space would be nice. But I've never been in space. And who would watch over my people?" Lexa asks. "I'm sure a natblida or one of the other grounders could step in." I tell her. "Yes. You're right. Then I'll go if you want to." "I want to. It would be great. And you'll have some time off from leading." I radio Raven to tell her that we'll go.

Over the next 5 and a half months, Lexa and I inject as many people as we can with nightblood, and we help the sick. We also get everyone ready to head to the bunker and tell them that we will go to space. A day before the radiation hits, Lexa and I head to Ravens lab. Raven tells me that all of us should be injected with nightblood, just incase the rocket malfunctions. Everyone is already in the bunker, and it's sealed so that we can't get in, so there's no turning back now. As I'm having the blood transfusion, Lexa sits next to me, holding my hand. "Tell me about space." She says. "It's no where near as great as the ground, but you can see the whole earth from up there. It's beautiful. For my last year or so before I got sent to the ground, I was in my cell. So I couldn't see the view anymore. All I did was draw on the floors and the walls with charcoal, and most of my drawings were I what I thought the ground would look like." "Was the ground as great as you thought it would be?" Lexa asks me. "No. It was better. Especially since I have you down here. If I never got sent down, I would of never met you." I say. "Well I'm glad that you did." Lexa says, before she kisses me.

"We got an hour to go! We have to pick up the pace!" Raven yells everyone. Once I'm all done with my blood transfusion, Raven tells me to go to a cell tower, and that I have to type in a code there for the rocket to launch. I tell Lexa to come with me. We head out of the lab, and run to the cell tower, knowing we don't have much time before the radiation hits. When we arrive, we only have ten minutes. "There will be a place to type in a code. Find it." Raven says over the radio. I find it, and she tells me the code. I type it in, and Raven says it doesn't work. "You have to go to the top of the tower and activate it manually! You have to run!" I start climbing up the tower, and Lexa climbs right behind me. I type in the code, and Raven says it works. "One minute until the wave hits!" Raven yells. "Go without us. You have to!" "I'm not leaving you." Raven says, and I hear her crying. "Go or else you'll all die! Goodbye Raven." The radio cuts out, and I can see the wave of radiation coming. Lexa and I quickly climb down the cell tower, and run to a nearby cave. We would of never made it back to the lab in time. Right before we enter the cave, we see the rocket launch. "They did it." I say to Lexa, and I feel a tear roll down my cheek. We enter the small cave, and we see the trees start to fall. The wave is here. Lexa holds me, and she wipes my tears as they fall. "We will find a way to get through this." She says. "We need to survive six years. How is that possible?" I ask her. "I know my way around. I know the best hunting spots. We will survive." After a while, I wake up, still in Lexa's arms. "We will still get burned from the radiation, but it won't be as bad if we didn't have nightblood. We need to find food." I say. Lexa and I walk out of the cave, and everything is destroyed. Trees are everywhere. "If we make it through the desert, there should be some animals." Lexa tells me. "Then let's go." After hours of walking with no food or water, we are weak and slow. Right when I'm about to give up, I see green.
