When Sky Falls In Love

Meet Selena Castroni, a simple girl and a nobody in her school who confessed her feelings for her long-time crush at the center of the basketball court after a championship game which made her heart shatter into a million pieces when her plan turned into a disaster. Skyler Alcarazo was the famous basketball superstar in Santa Clara Valley Academy who didn't want to have a serious relationship with any girl because, for him, girls would only distract his training and would ruin his future career. Besides, Sky was confident he could have whoever he wanted because of his good looks and overloaded sex appeal. Excerpt: "Sky, there is something I want to tell you," Selena said with shaking limbs as Skyler towered over her, wearing a victorious smile after his excellent performance during his game. "What is it, Selena? Do you want my autograph?" He asked, grinning at his younger brother's best friend. "No, I don't need your autograph; I like you, Skyler," she replied, blushing. "What?" He asked as his eyes widened in shock. "I said I like you, Sky, and I want to be your girlfriend," Selena answered, trying to control her emotions, and he laughed. Then, his face turned dark, and she could feel her blood drain from her veins as she looked at the disgusted look on Sky's face. "I thought you were different from other girls; I don't like you more than friends, Selena. Don't expect I have feelings for you because I treat you nicely; in my eyes, you are only my brother's best friend, nothing more, nothing less." Sky replied and walked away from her without taking a second glance. Selena's confession made her the laughingstock in her school, and things became complicated between them even after she gave Skyler one more chance, and she swore to herself she would make Sky pay for breaking her heart. But her plans became futile when Skyler became the greatest professional basketball player in the country and won the award as the Most Valuable player five times in a row. Skyler became a celebrity, while Selena had difficulty mending her broken heart. Sky was at the top of the world, enjoying his popularity and wealth, and having the hottest heiress as his fiancee made him the envy of all the guys all over Vizland Republic. One accident made him lose everything he knew he had, including his self-esteem. He became angry with the world and his existence. Selena was desperate to get a high-paying job to support his father's impending surgery. She grabbed the opportunity she read in the newspaper only to find out she would be dealing with the heartbreaker, Skyler. What will happen when the egoistic Superstar realizes fame is not the only thing that matters in the world? Can Selena be Sky's guiding light and savior in his darkest moment, or will she turn his world darker by taking her revenge on him? (Warning: Have mature content in the later part of the story)

Brilliant Idea

Selena's POV

I kept turning in my bed from the moment I collapsed on my soft mattress, but I couldn't sleep after Skyler brought me home. I know it was because of the overwhelming happiness I felt inside my heart.

I couldn't believe that I was flirting with my best friend's brother; even if I knew it was a big mistake, I was still excited to do it and play my part, even if I was aware Skyler would never get serious with me.

Still, I could never stop my heart from hoping that someday he would become mine, even if it is an impossible thing that will ever happen in the entire Santa Clara Academy history.

Being his girlfriend would mean I have to be sexy and gorgeous, and my face saddened as I realized I couldn't be his girl, knowing I didn't have those qualities.

I felt glad in the end that I could fall asleep, and when I woke up, I felt so tired because I knew after kissing Skyler I deprived myself of having a good night's sleep because of the mixed emotions I was having.

I was anxious, thrilled, and scared of what would be the outcome of Stanley's plan of making his brother suffer because of me. I found it hilarious, but I couldn't blame him for it, and I don't understand why Stan believed his brother was in love with me, even if there was no slight indication that Skyler was really into me.

I wish I had someone I could share my feelings with because I was having a hard time. I couldn't contain my intense emotions; it felt like my heart was about to burst every time I was with my best friend's brother.

"Honey, are you alright?" I heard my dad's voice on my door, and I quickly stood up when I realized I was almost late; I could tell Stanley would be angry with me, and worst he will go to school without me.

"Yes, dad, I am fixing myself," I responded as I hastily walked towards my closet to get my bath towel.

My dad was already wearing his uniform, giving me a quizzical look as I walked past him and made my way to the bathroom, and I took the quickest shower in history.

"Wow! Did you even wash your hair, Selena? I could tell you took a shower in less than three minutes; this was the first time something like this had happened. Are you okay, my dear?" My dad asked the moment I joined them in our cute dining area.

"Dad, I am always a girl scout, remember?" I responded, and he chuckled.

"Thank you, Gwen," I said as I turned my attention to my sister.

"You don't need to thank me, Selena; I know something is bothering you, besides I am old enough to cook for us; you have been cooking since I was in grade school; it is about time I will serve you." She responded with a sweet smile, and I was speechless.

I almost cried with happiness when I realized my sister was growing so fast, and I had nearly forgotten that she was now old enough to cook and clean the house.

Ever since our mom left, I felt responsible for her, and as I looked at my younger sister with amusement on her face, I couldn't stop feeling conscious that she knew I was in love.

"Oh, boy!" My sister exclaimed after she got out of our main door, and I wondered what was wrong.

My pulse quickened after I found Skyler leaning in his sports car, waiting for me. Gwen nudged me on my side before she walked ahead, giggling while I was left with shaking limbs.

I was shocked, and I could feel the hammering of my heart as he walked closer to me since I didn't move an inch. I stayed where I was, and I tried my best to compose myself.

I could still not believe Sky picked me up even after I settled myself into the passenger seat of his luxurious car. It was one of my dreams to be one of his passengers someday.

I wished to scream, but I didn't do it because I knew I had my reputation too, and a beautiful smile formed on my lips when I realized it was my time to show him the other side of me.

It was his brother's idea, and I got the courage to do what I wanted. I flirted with Skyler, and I am having so much fun. I didn't know the effect of my action, but as of the moment, all I ever wanted was to tease him.

I was beginning to believe that Stanley was right, his brother was really into me, and the way he looked at me with intensity was making my entire body on fire.

I loved how he was stealing glances at me, and I was telling myself it would not be impossible if he fell in love with me; as per Stanley, I am beautiful in my own ways, and for once, I believed in my best friend that I am beautiful.

I could see how his face turned sour when I told him the kisses we shared meant nothing to me. I felt triumphant, but I knew I was the one who would suffer later.

Skyler Alcarazo is used to being the center of attention of all the girls in the academy, including me, but he didn't know about it that I was one of them. As of the moment, I was on cloud nine after he told me he would make me drool over him before the final basketball game was over.

If he only knew how crazy I was for him, then he would not exert additional effort and his reactions

made me feel more confident he was under

my spell and all I need to do is play my card right.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked Stanley the moment he dragged me out of my room after my last class in the morning.

"You deserve a treat, Selena," he said, winking at me, and I ignored the hard stares of my female classmates as we made our way to his car.

"I don't need a treat, and I have to answer my assignments, Stanley; all I need now is the library," I answered as I tried to stop him, but he was so strong, and I could hear the screeching of my sneakers on the cemented floor.

"Selena, please, don't make this harder for me." He whispered, and I stopped struggling when I realized students were staring at us.

"Why did you ask your brother to pick me up this morning without telling me about it? And now, you kidnapped me? Don't I have the right to say no?" I asked after we settled inside his car.

"I am sorry; I knew it was my fault. I haven't texted you after Sky begged me; for the record, I didn't ask my brother to take you here; he volunteered." He said with a wide grin on his face.

"He did?" I asked, and I quickly hid my excitement.

"Yeah, which means my plans are working, and for that, we need to celebrate, I reserved lunch at the nearest restaurant, and I am sure you will love it," he said excitedly and drove the car away from the academy while I was celebrating secretly.

I couldn't stop my heart from feeling so excited thinking his older brother liked me, and I could feel the butterflies swarming in my belly as I thought about Sky and his handsome face. I couldn't stop believing the sweet kisses we shared, and I was more excited to see him again; I was hoping he would take me home later.

"I am sure my brother wanted to drive you home after class, but he needed to be with his teammates, and he couldn't be absent two times in a row. You will be stuck with me for the time being, and we have to hit the mall," Stanley stated.

I used to react whenever he mentioned we were going to the mall. After all, I hated to go shopping with him since I couldn't buy for myself if ever I found something suitable for me because I was saving all my allowance, and I felt guilty he would always buy me something, but at the moment, I felt too happy to say no to Stan.

"I know you love Japanese food; I ordered Ramen, Sushi, Sashimi, and Gyudon." My best friend said the moment we climbed out of his car, and my mouth watered right away.

"Why are we celebrating again?" I asked.

"Because my brother is now officially crazy about you, I told him never to court you if he will only play games with you, and my plans worked. He held your hand around campus, which is the first time that something like this happened." He responded.

"Most of the time, girls would link their arms with my brother, but he would never hold their hands, and what happened this morning was phenomenal that everyone in school couldn't stop talking about it, and I knew it; I couldn't believe my suspicion was right," Stanley added with a smile while I felt sick.

"Are you sure about this, Stan? Are you willing to hurt your brother because of a girl?" I asked, and his face fell.

"Selena, if you only knew how much I suffered after Dayana left, I tried to hide everything from

you, and I am sorry if I wasn't honest with you. I don't want you to laugh at me." He answered.

"You knew I would never laugh at you; you are my best friend," I replied in more than a whisper.

"I know, but I have my pride, Selena, I lied every time you ask me because of my damn ego, but after I realized my brother was in love with you, I got the courage to tell you the truth because you are the only one who can help me with this brilliant idea that I have." He declared with a broad smile on his face.

I watched the waiter put the food on our table, and I suddenly lost my appetite as I realized how can I break Skyler's heart, knowing I had to break my own heart if I would do what my best friend begged me to do.
