When Sky Falls In Love

Meet Selena Castroni, a simple girl and a nobody in her school who confessed her feelings for her long-time crush at the center of the basketball court after a championship game which made her heart shatter into a million pieces when her plan turned into a disaster. Skyler Alcarazo was the famous basketball superstar in Santa Clara Valley Academy who didn't want to have a serious relationship with any girl because, for him, girls would only distract his training and would ruin his future career. Besides, Sky was confident he could have whoever he wanted because of his good looks and overloaded sex appeal. Excerpt: "Sky, there is something I want to tell you," Selena said with shaking limbs as Skyler towered over her, wearing a victorious smile after his excellent performance during his game. "What is it, Selena? Do you want my autograph?" He asked, grinning at his younger brother's best friend. "No, I don't need your autograph; I like you, Skyler," she replied, blushing. "What?" He asked as his eyes widened in shock. "I said I like you, Sky, and I want to be your girlfriend," Selena answered, trying to control her emotions, and he laughed. Then, his face turned dark, and she could feel her blood drain from her veins as she looked at the disgusted look on Sky's face. "I thought you were different from other girls; I don't like you more than friends, Selena. Don't expect I have feelings for you because I treat you nicely; in my eyes, you are only my brother's best friend, nothing more, nothing less." Sky replied and walked away from her without taking a second glance. Selena's confession made her the laughingstock in her school, and things became complicated between them even after she gave Skyler one more chance, and she swore to herself she would make Sky pay for breaking her heart. But her plans became futile when Skyler became the greatest professional basketball player in the country and won the award as the Most Valuable player five times in a row. Skyler became a celebrity, while Selena had difficulty mending her broken heart. Sky was at the top of the world, enjoying his popularity and wealth, and having the hottest heiress as his fiancee made him the envy of all the guys all over Vizland Republic. One accident made him lose everything he knew he had, including his self-esteem. He became angry with the world and his existence. Selena was desperate to get a high-paying job to support his father's impending surgery. She grabbed the opportunity she read in the newspaper only to find out she would be dealing with the heartbreaker, Skyler. What will happen when the egoistic Superstar realizes fame is not the only thing that matters in the world? Can Selena be Sky's guiding light and savior in his darkest moment, or will she turn his world darker by taking her revenge on him? (Warning: Have mature content in the later part of the story)

An Invitation

Skyler's POV

I was wondering where my brother could be at this time. He warned me not to court Selena, yet he asked me to drive her home in unusual condition, and I almost laughed when he asked me to let her best friend sit in the backseat of my car.

"You need to get out, Selena," I ordered as I watched her face in the rearview mirror of my car.

"What? And why would I do that? It was already drizzling, and anytime the rain would fall, your house was so far from the archway of your estate, and I couldn't walk; my feet hurt." She answered me as she watched outside on the trees on the side of the road leading to our mansion.

"Who told you, you will be walking, Selene? I only wanted you to transfer here on the front seat; besides, I will get the umbrella to ensure you will not get wet." I responded, and she frowned, and I wondered what had gone wrong.

"Do I need to do that when we are near your house?" She asked, and I could feel the irritation in her voice.

"Yes, Selene, I am not your driver, and I don't want the household staff to think I am giving you special treatment," I responded, and I could see her face saddened as she opened the door and transferred to the front seat beside me without saying another word.

I watched her with fascination since this was the first time I was out of words in front of a girl. I am so used to those hot cheerleaders flirting with me, but this ordinary girl gave me a headache.

I can't read her at all, and I want to know what was playing on her pretty little head. I didn't start the car as I continued to stare at her.

"I am now sitting in the front seat; what do you want me to do now? I will melt if you don't stop staring at me, Skyler." She coldly said, and I couldn't stop chuckling. I pissed her off, and it amused me to my core.

Girls would always obey me, and I could boss them around if I wanted to, but I am not that guy. I respect every girl, yet I couldn't stop them from throwing themselves at me.

I still remember what my mom told me before she died.

"Skyler, I know you have good looks, and you could break many hearts when you grow up, but please, try to be gentler, and don't hurt anyone." My mom said, and I was confused about what she meant at that time; only recently, I realized what my mom meant when I saw girls crying in front of me after I rejected them after confessing their feelings to me.

I knew they were only infatuated with me because of my popularity in our school, and I wanted them to like me for what I am and not for what they saw and heard.

I couldn't make them all my girlfriends, and I promised never to get involved with anyone unless I was already playing on the national team. It wasn't hard for me since I never get attracted to anyone, except recently when I could no longer stop myself from paying attention to my brother's best friend.

I tried to avoid Selena since I realized I felt something for her, but as she turned into a beautiful young woman, I couldn't just ignore how hot she looked every time she was wearing her coveralls with grease all over her face.

Selena wasn't aware of the charm she possessed and how beautiful she was. Her sex appeal was exceptional, and I couldn't imagine how the boys on campus would react if they saw her wearing short skirts and a sleeveless tank top.

She never wore that kind of clothing at school which I felt glad about since I could tell I would become a jealous freak.

"Are we good, Selene?" I asked, and I hated that she remained mute, and it felt like it didn't bother her at all that I was sitting next to her. I am sure those hot girls would be dying to be in her place.

"Did I do something that upset you? Is this all about the kiss we shared? Did you regret that you had your first kiss with me?" I asked when I couldn't take her silence anymore.

"Of course not; those kisses meant nothing to me; I just don't like to be part of your fans club," she replied, and I furrowed my forehead.

"What fans club?" I asked, confused.

"Well, I don't like to be like those girls, okay? I don't want to be associated with you, and please call me Selena." She responded, and I felt hurt by her words.

"It will never happen again, and thanks for the tutorial; I don't think I needed a kissing coach," Selena added, and for the second time, she wounded my ego.

"Fine, just don't get angry with me, please, Selena," I begged, and then she looked at me sideways; my heart skipped a beat when she gave me one of her sweetest smiles. I must admit she has the most beautiful smile, and I hate to think she didn't like me.

"I am not angry; I was only upset with something," she replied, still wearing a beautiful smile

on her face, and I started the engine of my car with a wide grin on my face.

"You can tell me about it too; I knew Stanley is your best friend, but I want you to know you can count on me too; your secrets would be safe with me." I declared, and her face blushed right away, and I wondered what would be Selena's secret.

"No, thanks; you have a lot on your plate already," Selena responded and focused her attention on the colorful flowers on the side of the road.

I dropped her off to her place, and she got out of the car hastily, even before I could move. Yeah, I was beginning to feel like an idiot. I was dying to kiss her again, but Selena made it clear that I couldn't kiss her again.

I drove home with an emptiness I couldn't explain; when I reached our mansion, I took a shower right away to take away all my worries and the foreign feeling that I felt towards Selena, but nothing changed after I changed into my sweatpants and white plane t-shirt. I could still feel the loneliness in my heart.

I was starving, and I quickly got out of my room and made my way through the hallways, and my steps faltered when I saw Erika standing at the bottom of the stairs.

Erika was wearing an above-the-knee length dress. I admit, she looked beautiful and gorgeous. She is tall, with a height of five feet nine inches tall. She got long legs and porcelain skin, and her honey-blonde hair complimented her complexion.

Boys would always give her a second look, and being the director's daughter and having good looks made her the most popular girl in our school, and many girls students from the lower year idolized her, and not only that; she was always number one in our class. Erika is the brightest student all over Santa Clara Valley High.

"Hi, Sky!" She said with a beautiful smile on her face, and I tried to smile back even if I felt uncomfortable that she was in our house.

"What are you doing here, Erika?" I asked as I descended the grand staircase, and her face fell.

"Skyler, aren't you happy to see me?" She asked as she pouted her lips.

"I told you to meet some other time," I responded.

"Yeah, but I couldn't wait to see you; I just want to ask you to be my date this coming Saturday." She said, and I wrinkled my forehead.

"I sent you and Stanley the invitation, and I will be turning eighteen, and excited to be officially an adult. It means I would be free to do what I want." She said meaningfully as she scanned my body with a mischievous grin on her face.

"I am sorry, Erika, I don't think I can make it, we have a game this coming Friday, and I have training this coming weekend," I responded, but her smile didn't waver.

"Don't worry, dad already asked your coach, and he said yes. All your teammates would be part of my cotilion, so you can't say no to me, Sky." She said with a wide grin, and I realized I didn't have a choice.

"Wow, I am sorry; I would ask my brother if he received the invitation," I responded as I came near her.

"So, would you be my date?" She asked, and I smiled at her as I nodded my head.

"Oh, thank you, Skyler, my birthday would be complete!" She exclaimed as she hugged me, and I wanted to push her away, but I didn't want to be rude to her.

"It would be my pleasure to be your date on your special day, Erika," I responded, and her arms tightened around me.

"Having you as my date on my eighteenth birthday would be the best gift you can ever give me on my birthday, Sky, and thank you for making my dreams come true." She said like a little girl, and I wanted to laugh, but I could tell I made Erika happy.

"You're welcome," I responded, and I felt glad she released me from her embrace. When I raised my head just in time, I saw Stanley, with his best friend, enter the living room.

I could feel the loud beating of my heart as I looked at Selena, but the disgust that I saw on her face as she stared at us was enough to turn my mood sour, and I wondered how can I make her smile at me again like the way she did when we were in our farm.
