That Night

If it weren’t for Erin’s experience as a nursing student, she would have already let panic dominate her being in this moment.

She picked up Erin’s wrist and felt her pulse.

‘Slow.’ She sucked in her breath.

She leaned down, putting her ear close to Darcie’s face.

‘Shallow breaths.’

“Darcie–Darcie.. Wake up..” She shook her, trying to wake her up.

Still no response.

“What’s wrong?” Harvey asked.

“She’s not waking up.”

“She’s probably so hammered from last night.. Ugh.. I have a bad headache.. Why not help her put on clothes first?”

Erin nodded.

Harvey helped her gather Darcie’s clothes. Joe sat behind Darcie to prop her up while Erin put on the clothes on Darcie.

“Harvey, could you help me?” She huffed.

“Mm.” He nodded. He then held Darcie’s arm one by one as they put the dress on her.

When he let go of Darcie’s arm, it fell limply to her sides.

Moments later, Erin noticed Darcie’s fingers.

“Blue.”
