Same Person

Later that night, Diana was folding her clothes after cleaning up and doing her laundry.

The apartment's door opened and Heather came in, changing her shoes into slippers.

"Hey Di! Did you eat yet?" Heather asked when she noticed Diana just getting out of her bedroom.

Diana shook her head. "Nope, I was waiting for you. I cooked dinner."

Heather noticed that Diana's mood had improved significantly. She didn't look as saddened as she did before.

"Aww.. you didn't have to wait for me. Hehehe So what did you cook?" Heather sniffed, trying to smell the food.

"Beef stew.. I got rice too. I found a recipe while I was on Chatify today." Diana said, smiling. She got up and set up the table.

Heather went to her room to put her things down and washed her hands.

Taking their seats, they talked about random stuff that they saw on Chatify recently, with Heather occasionally complimenting Diana with her cooking.

"So today, a lawyer came in. He said that he'll be representing you. Di, you didn't mention you already called up a lawyer for your case." Heather mentioned what had happened earlier. Her chin resting against her hand.

"Huh? A lawyer? No, I didn't call anyone yet. I was going to ask you if you know anyone willing to take up the case." Diana answered, confused.

"Uh-huh" Heather leaned back against her chair. Her head fell back. "And not just any lawyer. The man is top-notch! It's Atty. Hector Pierpont."

"What? That famous guy who keeps winning case after case?" Diana was shocked, she knows who this man is. He is that famous.

"Exactly! That guy!" Heather slammed her hand on the table and pointed at Diana as if Diana got the winning answer.

"Ehhhh? But I've never met him in person though. I've seen him on TV and everyone back at the house would discuss business and mention his name from time to time. Especially when they plan to sue someone and they could only sigh that they can't get Atty. Pierpont to take their case." Diana was wide-eyed. She can't fathom how this impressive man suddenly became her lawyer when she never even met him.

"Honest?" Heather looked at Diana who was still shocked. "Okay--think about it. Do you know anyone who might have contacted him for you?"

"I don't think so. Other than you and the people back at the Institute, I don't think they even know about the incident. Not even the Winchester family knows, then again even if they did, they won't bother to help me out." Diana stated dryly.

"Strange.. From what I heard before, Atty. Pierpont is the main lawyer of Forrest Research Institute. Other than that, he rarely takes cases outside what's concerning the Lovell Family and their businesses." Heather quipped.

The connection of the Lovell Family and Winchester Family is nonexistent. There is no way the latter can even breathe the same air as the Lovell Family.

"Did he leave any contact information?" Diana asked.

Heather nodded. She took out a business card from her wallet and gave it to Diana.

It was already late night so Diana stopped herself from contacting Atty. Pierpont. She'll call him in the morning instead.

Diana was still shocked when she remembered about the new job.

"Oh by the way, I got hired today. I'll start tomorrow." Diana told Heather.

"Already? Wow that was fast! Where?" Heather was so happy for Diana.

"At Forrest Research Institute. My professor recommended it to me and let me use his name as a Reference. Just an hour after I applied, I got the call from HR." Diana was still feeling exhilarated as she remembered how it happened.

"Again.. That fast? Wow!" Heather was so amazed. Who is this professor, that can get you hired if his name is used as a Reference?

"I know right? I'm going to make a call tomorrow to thank my professor." Diana said. After talking for a little more, they went to their own rooms and got ready for bed.

Diana was organizing her table, making sure that she doesn't forget anything on her first day of work when she found a business card.

She's had this card for a while now but this is her first time actually reading what it says. She figured she didn't need to know his contact details because he has already added her to Chatify. Only thing is, he never messaged her. This is also why she didn't bother with the card anymore. It was just on her desk.

Picking it up, she read the contact details.

"Mr. Lucas Ingram, President of Forrest Research Institute." Diana's eyes lost focus for a minute. She can't believe that the Lucas she kissed more than a month ago is actually the President of the biggest Research Institute in the country. That's like every medical technologist's dream company.

She knows about the President of Forrest Research Institute. She has even seen him in the news so many times, but she didn't really pay attention to his face. Especially because she never even considered the possibility of ever meeting him in person. Even now that she'll be working there, she doubts she will even see him in person. Just like at Hopton Research Institute, she has never met President Carmichael. And if it weren't for the incident, she also wouldn't meet Assistant Smith.

But now that she knows Lucas and President Lucas Ingram are the same people, she still can't believe that she actually met him in person and didn't recognize him.

In all honesty, it was because her memory of Lucas was clearer than her memory of seeing him on TV. He hasn't let any magazine feature him as well.

Her heart skipped a beat. She recalled the time they first met. She touched her lips. 'That seemed like a faraway dream.'

She's relieved that she knows who Lucas is now. But then remembered that he hasn't contacted her ever since that night.

She might be his employee in the future but meeting him in person was near impossible.

Her head began to ache, so she drove those thoughts to the back of her head and just tried to get some sleep.
