Out On A Sunday

Sunday morning, Diana kept rolling in her bed, making up for the rest she didn't get from the day before. She planned to procrastinate that day.

She was reading the book Witches and Bandits all over again. It's the trilogy that she loves. The very one that is being made into a movie. She reread the second book as the second part of the movie will start showing in cinemas soon.

She had music playing in her speaker that was connected to her phone until suddenly the music paused, replaced with her ringtone.

"Owww" She was so startled, she dropped her book on her face. Taking away the book, she massaged her nose.

Frowning, she got up and checked her phone.

'Lucas'

The ringing stopped. She was too late to pick it up.

'Should I call him back? What if it's important? Wait, it's a Sunday, what important thing could it be? And besides I work at the lab, not his personal assistant. If there's anything to settle, I would not be the right person for it.'

As she was pressing buttons to call him back, his caller ID showed up again. This time, she answered right away.

"Mr. Ingram?.." Diana greeted, respectfully.

The other line was silent. Diana looked at her screen, making sure she's still on the call. She still was.

"Hello? Mr. Ingram? President?" Still no answer. "Lucas?"

"How are you Diana?" He finally answered.

Diana slapped her forehead.

'What is up with this guy?' She was still not used to the idea of them being close.

She felt annoyed but couldn't help her lips pulling into a smile. 'I can't believe how childish he is at times. Is this really the intimidating president of Forrest Research Institute? Nobody came and replaced him with a double, right?'

"I'm good. How about you? Can I help you with something?" Diana queried, she suppressed her urge to ask him if he was actually a double.

What could be so important for him to call her on a Sunday?

"Yes, actually. I'll pick you up in 10 minutes." He said. "Oh. And we're not going to work. I got something personal I need help with."

With that, he hung up. He didn't even let her reject him.

Before working at Forrest Research Institute, her information about Lucas was only limited to what was revealed to the public. She had no idea what he was really like. On TV, he had on a cold persona. He looked intimidating and radiated an aura of a person with power.

On the very first time they met, he looked like someone she can ask help from. Thinking about it, he really did quickly make up his mind to help her out that time. After a few words, he easily played along as her boyfriend.

But now, she's slowly finding out what kind of man he is. He can really get what he wants. He's just radiating an aura that won't let you say no to him. Even through the phone.

Finishing up her light makeup, Diana did a once over look on the mirror. She had on a white shirt, dark jeans, khaki long sleeve casual coat and white shoes. Throwing on a few accessories, she put on her brown sling purse. She then looked at the time and headed down.

Outside, Lucas was leaning against the passenger's side door. Hearing her footsteps, he looked up from his phone.

Seeing her, he smiled warmly. He approached her, leaning in. For a hug? Diana was frozen.

No, he didn't hug her.

He brushed his lips against her cheek.

It was only but a second, but it already sent a bolt of lighting within her body. Her breath hitched. Her heart skipped a beat. Her cheeks and earlobes flushed red. She felt warm from head to toe.

"You look beautiful as always. Let's go?" Lucas woke her up from her daze. His playful grin was all she needed to realize that he was aiming for that reaction.

He opened the door and urged her to go inside. She did obediently.

It was a bit chilly outside so Lucas had his heater on inside the car.

"Let me know if you're still cold." Lucas said, adjusting the temperature for the car.

"No, I'm okay." Diana muttered softly.

"Have you had breakfast yet?" Lucas queried.

Diana shook her head. "No. But I'm okay. What do you need help with?"

Lucas started the car and drove for a mile already.

Diana frowned, still waiting for his answer. She glanced at him, prompting him to speak.

"Hmm.. I need help choosing what to wear for the party." He finally spoke.

"Ah. Okay." Diana was wondering why he still needed to think about what to wear.

'Can't he just wear one of his many suits? He looks good on all of them anyway.'

Her thought brought a round of embarrassment once again. Since meeting him, she couldn't help but admit time and time again how good-looking he was. No, not just good-looking. He was gorgeous!

She didn't realize she could be mesmerized by a person's looks repetitively until Lucas stuck his face in front of her.

To a degree, it was hard to deny that people would get attracted to the other on their physical attributes first. It was just up to the person what he or she thinks is considered beautiful. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

But in Lucas's case, that was the majority's opinion.

It was the same for Lucas, he also thought that Diana was the most beautiful woman he'd ever met. Her gentle smile, her bright eyes and her beautiful figure that most artists could only hope to immortalize using their art. But more than that, Lucas found that her own achievements born from her intellect and hard work were what he found mesmerizing.

"Do you already have something to wear for it?" He broke her away from her thoughts.

"Hmm.. yeah." Diana mumbled.

Lucas nodded, pensively.

He thought he would have the chance to take her shopping, deciding on an outfit together. With her asking him if it looked good or not.

Thinking that they'll be heading to the store first, Diana was startled when she was led inside The Waterfront Well.
