Apologies

Bryan went to his office and gathered the papers that had the erroneous laboratory results from yesterday.

He then called Diana.

Now that things have turned out like this, he will make sure that Diana will be in the Officers' hands before the day ends.

"Diana, how are you?" Bryan asked, faking concern.

"Mm. Can I help you?" Diana replied.

"Oh. Yes. Can you come to my office? I need you to sign some papers." Bryan made up.

On the other end, Diana rolled her eyes. What papers could she possibly sign after getting fired just like that?

But knowing that Heather and Ed are still in the building, she is assured that nothing bad will happen to her.

"Okay. I'll be there." Diana said.

"Good. Good. Bye then." Bryan hung up, his eyes had a sinister look.

As he left his office, he bumped into Clara who was about to enter his office.

"Hey Bryan~" Clara smiled. "I was about to go in. Are you going somewhere?"

"Clara" Bryan's mood picked up momentarily. He looked to the sides, grabbed Clara's hand and let her inside the office.

Clara was surprised at Bryan's actions but just followed him inside as he locked the door. When he turned towards her, he grabbed her shoulders and kissed her fiercely.

She was shocked at first but grew hot with passion as he deepened the kiss, his hands groping her breast and buttocks. She doesn't love him. Not at all. But their act is sending thrills inside her. Bryan doesn't look bad, in fact, he is good-looking, which makes flirting with him to get benefits is not so bad. Becoming his lover is not a bad idea too.

Bryan was furious with Diana but now that he saw Clara and she is in his arms, he can momentarily forget his anger. Now his body is in heat but because of passion. This woman in his arms is very compliant with him. She let him roam his hands in her body without objection, even in her most private area. She let him explore freely, even making it easier for him to access it by discarding what's covering it.

10 minutes later, Bryan sat panting in his swiveling chair and Clara lay sprawled on his desk, her legs opened in front of him as she wiped herself.

"What's with you today?" Clara asked, breathless. "I mean--I'm not complaining. That was incredibly hot just now. But why?" Clara was amused. They just spent the night yesterday after meeting the Assistant from Forrest Research Institute, and even in the morning before they came to work.

This man can't take his hands off me now. Clara thought, happily.

Bryan chuckled. "Hot, huh?.. It's nothing really. I was in a bad mood before I saw you, but now that you're here I'm a bit better now."

"Only a bit?" Clara teased.

Bryan laughed and winked at her, he cleared his throat and started fixing his clothes. "I called Diana earlier."

Clara's mood turned sour. "Diana? She's not fired yet?"

Bryan patted her knee. She shook his hand away and hurriedly fixed her clothes.

"She is fired." Clara's mood picked up again. "But I called her for something else." Clara wondered what his reason was and was about to ask when they were disturbed by a knock. "That must be her. Come on, let's go."

Bryan unlocked the door and opened it, with Clara following him from behind.

"Diana, good. You're here." Bryan's smile was sinister. "Come with me."

Diana raised an eyebrow at the two in front of him, one looking sinister and the other looking smugly at her.

Reaching the Security Office, Bryan was about to knock on the door to ask for Assistant Smith when the latter opened the door himself and led the two officers.

"Assistant Smith! I heard the results from yesterday. I just found out that because of the incident, a patient was misdiagnosed and was given a medication that wasn't needed." Bryan spoke. Clara just found out about this as well and immediately looked at Diana to catch her reaction. However, the latter was remaining calm. "Fortunately, we have Ms. Holt here who helped redo the tests."

"I brought the erroneous results that caused it in case it can help in their investigation. Officers, here it is." Bryan handed it to Ed.

When Bryan said 'Officers', Clara's breath got caught in her throat. She looked at the room where the said Officers just came out of. It said 'Security Office'.

At this moment, she wanted to run away but she was petrified in fear. She tried to remain calm. It is not yet certain if they have found any evidence other than what Bryan just handed to them. With only this, Diana is the one in trouble.

"If you could follow us to the Precinct, we will appreciate your cooperation." Ed spoke. "Mr. Cook. Ms. Holt., Ms. Winchester."

"Of course." Bryan said confidently. He is willing to testify against Diana.

"May I speak to Ms. Winchester for a moment?" Assistant Smith said.

Heather looked at Diana and nodded. "Okay." Turning to her coworker, "I'll wait for her. You go with them first." Ed nodded, escorting the two to the car.

"Ms. Winchester, I apologize on behalf of the whole Institute for the injustice done towards you. Earlier this morning, President Carmichael ordered a team to investigate the incident urgently. The President even ordered for the Manager to call you back after the investigation. It's only now that I found out that the Manager Mr. Cook already sent out a Termination Letter to you. I apologize for that." Assistant Smith said, apologetically.

"I am grateful to hear that the President himself even initiated the investigation. But now that the facts are here, I am sure you know who should be the one feeling sorry right now." Diana said, plainly. She doesn't have any plans of letting the real culprit scot-free.

"Yes. I understand. Ms. Winchester, we will help you in the investigation. And you can come back as soon as possible." Assistant Smith said, humbly.

"Thank you." Diana nodded. "Also, here is the Resignation letter."

Assistant Vincent Smith was surprised. Instead of gratefully taking the opportunity to go back to work, she handed out the Resignation letter.

"Ms. Winchester, is there any way I can change your mind? The incident will be resolved soon. Ms. Holt, who was the real culprit, will receive the punishment due to her. We value your knowledge and skills. It will be unfortunate if we lose such a talent."

Diana smiled at his words, the Assistant looked sincere enough. But her decision is already final. She shook her head and sighed. "I appreciate your words. But I think it is better for me to have a fresh start somewhere else."

Assistant Smith understood her meaning. This is not the first time an employee has tried to try and make another look bad in order to get ahead, even if the truth will come out, it will still be awkward for everyone around.

He sighed. This is all that Supervisor's fault for making the decision to terminate her first even before investigating the incident. He'll make sure to investigate if there are any similar incidents like this.

"I apologize again Ms. Winchester, for our inability to handle this situation. Best of luck to you. I know you will do well anywhere you go. You are always welcome to come back if you wish to." Assistant Smith said, genuinely.

After saying bye to the Assistant, Diana followed Heather to the car and went to the Oxfield Crime Department.
