She is mistaken for a spy, by one of the most influential families in the country and held captive as the confusion, mishaps and misunderstandings build up all around her. Under the extreme circumstance, Mina is thrown into despair, hatred and love all that the same time, but will the experience break her or make her ‘better?’ (This story is set in a fictional, modern day patriarchal society on the brink of a shift public opinion on the 'role' of the woman.) Excerpt: "Why are you crying?" "Because I'm stupid," Mina replied. The man laughed sarcastically. "I disagree. I think you are a very smart girl." "Being smart does not mean you can not be stupid." Who told her she was a genius anyway? ***THIS IS AN ADULT STORY WITH AN ADULT THEME. THERE IS VIOLENCE AND IMPLIED VIOLENCE. THERE IS ROMANCE IN THIS STORY, BUT IT IS NOT EXACTLY A LOVE STORY. ***

Chapter 59: Weak

Three hours into staring at footage of Mina's unmoving figure, Ian received a call from his sister. She was on her way to collect blood samples from Mina. He informed his sister that he was not home but told her to go ahead and get samples from Mina anyway. He trusted his sister implicitly, but he could not rule out the possibility that she was being nice to Mina behind his back as well. If that were the case, he would be at ease because everything his sister did so far, was in his best interest.

When Luna arrived at the Lee mansion, she headed straight to where Mina was being kept. Her brother had already sent word to his subordinates that she was on her way to get blood samples from Mina. Thus, when she stood in front of the bookshelf, they pressed a button and watched her walk toward Mina who was still in bed. Luna, although in the medical field, was not a medical doctor but she still knew how to draw blood. Albeit she was probably not as gentle as a trained professional.

Under president Lee's order, brother B went inside of the room with Luna, just in case Mina tried to do anything.

Luna stood above Mina's sleeping frame and grimaced. The girl did not look good at all, but she was still beautiful. How pretty does a person have to be to look good when they look bad? She thought to herself as she shook Mina's shoulder to wake her. The girl did not move. Unable to shake the uneasy feeling that engulfed her, Luna took Mina's pulse only to find it weak.

She took out her phone and called her brother.

"Ian, what did you do to this girl?!" Ian stayed quiet for a long time, not understanding his sister's question. He had unintentionally fallen asleep after speaking with her, so he had not seen what happened before she called.

"What are you asking me?" He said in a groggy voice.

"Ian, Mina is really weak, I think she is dying. She needs a doctor now!" Ian froze. He had instructed his kitchen staff to keep Mina alive. How could she be dying? He thought of the maid from earlier and his blood boiled. Could she have poisoned Mina?

Ian hung up on his sister and called his personal physician. The man was professional and discreet. He had long been secured as the Lee family personal physician and he was the one who was currently treating Ian's father. Within an hour, Dr. Juan arrived at the Lee Mansion with a small medical team. While waiting, Luna had already extracted Mina's blood samples and now she stood to the side allowing the medical team to go to work. They could tell that Mina was dehydrated and immediately put her on an IV drop infused with minerals, but Dr. Juan still had to explain to Luna that without the proper equipment his hands were tied.

After two IV bags, Dr. Juan and his medical team left. Mina's pulse had stabilized considerably, but she was still weak and needed at least twenty-four hours to rest and recover.

Luna relayed this information to her brother, whom she did not know was already watching from his study. When Luna left her brother's home, she called Dr. Bell. She did not want to see him, but this was confidential work, so it was unavoidable.

----

When Tavin's phone rang he was not expecting it to be Luna. For the past few days, she had been avoiding him. She kept promising to bring him blood samples and when he would call about them, she would give him an excuse. While most men would be mad, this only made him anxious. Luna did not like to lie. One could say she was even bad at it, so for her to continuously lie to him meant things were completely out of her control.

Tavin answered his phone on the third ring.

"Hello, Dr. Bell. Are you at the lab?" She asked. Her voice was so charming. Even when she was purposefully being devoid of emotion it still carried a hint of gentleness and warmth.

"I am," he said.

"Wait for me, I have the samples." Tavin wanted to tell her that he didn't need them anymore, he wanted to tell her that any traces of the drug were probably out of the system by now, but his selfish desire to see her made him decide to tell her that in person.

Luna's chauffeur brought her to the lab in record time. Even she was surprised when she looked up and saw she was already at the building. The whole car ride over, she was thinking about Mina. She knew her brother could be cruel, but she had hoped he would be patient with the girl on her account. She did not expect him to have let her waste away so pitifully. It appeared as if her brother was still truly angry with Mina, and she thought that he must have been afraid that it would affect his relationship with Lisa.

Getting out of the car, Luna told her driver to wait and headed into the building. She used her key card and fingerprint to access the restricted areas and walked straight into Dr. Bell's lab. She ignored the safety procedures for today, she did not plan to stay long. Before she could walk into the small workspace, Luna's attention was caught by the sounds of a giggling woman. She stopped walking so she could listen.

"Doctor, you're so bad." Said the voice and Luna's heart jumped into her throat. Had she chanced upon an intimate moment between colleagues?

Unable to move, but unable to leave Luna stood frozen in place for a long time. Her senses dulled and she felt as if she could no longer hear. Just as her legs began to wobble a pair of strong hands held her up. She looked to see who had snuck up behind her.

"Tavin?" She questioned. Her eyes traced his face and she felt her body melting into his embrace.

"Who else would I be?" He asked, with furrowed brows. He intentionally kept his voice to a whisper, matching her seductive purr, but he was a little shocked by Luna's reaction. She had called him by his name for the first time in so many years and he wanted to savor the moment they were in.
