Prologue

==== Vancouver, Canada ====

Anna Morgainne was what most would call successful. She has a degree in physics and chemistry, she works in a famous and very influential firm, and she has enough money to support her parents and her children. Children... if she would ever come to even bear them. Even from the beginning, she has been referred to as cute, but her attitude and "work first" habits always pushed away any potential man. She has always been referred to as a "Heartless Princess" as she has refused to show any feelings to anyone, even if she would look better showing emotions. Strangely enough, she was popular with children, even if she didn't have any herself. She would constantly babysit her siblings' children when they were too busy having fun with their partners. She may sometimes be referred to as "Heartless," but she was anything but. She is still a kind person. Plus, she isn't exactly busy. She only needed to go to work a few days a week, most of her job being done at home. But, the faithful day, the day that would test her future, has come. She was walking to work like she would do everyday, feeling tired and lethargic from a whole night of juggling crying children and a report. She is only human and humans get tired. Since she was early, she dropped by to a TimBucks on the way to pick up some coffee and breakfast. The last thing she needed was to collapse when handling some dangerous chemical or device. That would most definitely be a bad thing for her. Just as she was ordering her coffee, a man walked in. He was dressed in dark clothing, which seemed to bulge out in front of him. Fat, she thought. Simple as that. Recently, she has been watching a lot of Drywood action movies. The ones with the big explosions and gun fights every few seconds.

The man seemed quite agitated, fiddling with his pockets as if he was searching for his wallet. Still ordering, she wouldn't notice... much. It seemed pretty ordinary. Even she searched her wallet when she was waiting in line for her own turn to order. But, the man wasn't searching for a wallet, rather, he ripped his top open, revealing rows and rows of what seemed to be plastic explosives. That was what the girl thought, linking that with the movies. Her only exposure to explosives have been through Chemistry and movies. In the man's hand was what seemed to be a phone, just as he was about to press it, Anna tackled the man. This did little to deter him from pressing it, a series of beeping sounding off before she felt her life get ripped from right under her. It was ending here, she thought in the few milliseconds that it took for her consciousness to disappear. It ended there for her, so it seemed. Little did she know, by sacrificing herself, she has saved everyone in that TimBucks. She was a hero. She thought she would end her life as a hero and with a bang.

She found herself sitting in a completely white room. It was bright, but not blindingly so. It was warm and cold, the perfect combination. She doesn't know how long she has been here. Was the afterlife true after all? If this was what people called heaven, it wasn't as exciting as she thought it was, and if this was hell, she thought she would suffer more. Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the sound of what seemed to be a sliding door. From seemingly nowhere, a small and unremarkable human appeared, approaching her. It looked so masculine, yet it looked so feminine. It... seemed to be walking, but by the speed it was moving, it seemed like it was floating.

"Congratulations Ms Morgainne. You are the one billionth death from Earth. You went out with a bang too. Don't worry, you have been posthumously been awarded the Medal of Honour. It was a jarring experience. Right? Well, you have one more chance to live! Of course, not on Earth, but somewhere else. Somewhere simple," said the being. It seemed to speak with two voices, one being a deep manly voice, while the other resembled a more frail, feminine, one. Anna didn't know what to take of this. She was still alive right? She could feel herself still exist. To test this, she pinched her cheeks, trying to test if she felt pain. Yes, she still feels pain. She could hear the being chuckle as she practically melted down in front of them. It continued with, "don't you want to live Ms Morgainne? I'm giving you another chance to live and do more good in the next world. You can drop out of it if you don't want to."

"Yes. I'm sorry. I just... well, died. I think I have. I feel my body still existing, but I vividly remembered being turned into red mist. Im sorry but... can I just... have a moment to myself?" She asked, burrying her face into her hands, having experienced what was supposed to be a once in a life time event.

"No worries. Take your time. I know exactly what you are thinking. Dying should only be a once in a life time event. I understand. You aren't the first to mention that Ms Morgainne. But I will leave you with this," the creature said, producing a piece of paper and just disappearing from where it came. After a while of sitting on her bum, thinking about what utter nonsense this was, she eventually crawled towards it. It was a contract. The contract was inscribed with text detailing her future adventures in the New World. The New World was a place that still revolved around a church running a country, a place that still refused to follow science, and a place that possessed strange powers. It didn't give details of anything, but it did assure her that she was able to keep her memories of the old world and take a memento from the old world. A memento. What could she take? She thought for a moment, continuing down the page, it detailing in excruciating amounts of detail about what she has to do to accept this. Why wouldn't she accept this? It was a new chance at life. What bad could it be?

It seems that the requirements to accept this offer was to... do the chicken dance? What kind of wacky requirement is that? But the main thought she had in her mind was... what was she taking to the new world? Well, she thought of a weapon... like a gun! A gun would be amazing, but she thought that would be a horrible idea. If it gets stolen, who knows what kind of chaos it could cause? She eventually settled with a pen. The same pen that her mother gave to her when she was a child, and the same pen she held on her body when she died. She practically lived with that pen at this point. She trusted that it will be given to her one way or another. The contract didn't tell her about how she was going to receive it, so she only assumed that she would get it magically! Embarrassingly, she stood up, proceeding to do the chicken dance. This... didn't actually do much for her. She stood there, confused as to why nothing happened. Was this all a lie? What if there truly was no New World?

Just as she was starting to doubt herself, the being came out again, yawning. It seemed that her stomping woke up the being! It started with, "I knew you would eventually agree. It only took you... 4 hours." Four hours? It only felt like 5 minutes. What kind of horrible time mess is happening here? The being continued with, "but I must warn you Ms Morgainne. If you die in the New World, there are no second chances."

She replied firmly, "yes. I understand. I am ready." With that, the being placed its hand on her forehead, pushing her back. She seemed confused at first, where was the creature pushing her? But it was soon evident that she was falling. Wait, falling? Just as she felt the ground nearing, she stopped with a loud and audible whoomph, feeling a soft cloth like fabric under her. Due to unknown reasons, she has promptly fallen asleep, even if she was trying to fight it. Seemed like sleep had plans for her.
