After waking up, the sun is already up. We decided to just eat our last bit of food and go to the city of Jorvik.
Somehow, this kid Alruna is reluctant on leaving the house though. To convince her, I just reasoned her out that no one knows where it is anyway so there's definitely no one who's even gonna notice it. Well, that's kinda more on truth anyway, besides. The house was made to be a one day house so I don't understand her.
After that, we visited the portal again. Actually, the way to Jorvik is somehow on the direction of the portal so it's not like we want to visit it again.
"Still, why did our ancestors even build this thing? Do you have any idea kuya?"
It might not be your ancestor you know. It can be other people who have lived longer than your country's. Well, about it's origin... I cant really say anything, I didn't get to study it that much because of the danger in this forest after all.
I can't really say that it's just a portal I made to get here so I just made up something.
Well, let's go Kid!"
"Okay... Hey, don't call me a kid!"
...
After some hours of walking I was finally able to see Jorvik from afar. It was surrounded by a long wall with towers while the front is connected to the forest by a bridge with a river in it's bottom.
Wow!
"Kuya? Why are do you look like this is the first time you saw a city? I get that the city of Jorvik is big but, I think other countries have them too.. right?"
Oops, because of my amazement I forgot that I have a companion that doesn't know that this is the first time I'm seeing a real medieval city!!
This really look amazing.
I already knew what to expect when I saw the fighting between those two groups yesterday that I'm will be on a medieval type set up but still! A medieval city is a medieval city!
Okay, we should definitely go inside of that now!
"Why are you so excited now kuya? Ahh! Did you get scared so much yesterday that you missed the city?"
Cheh, this kid! She has a lot of guts when she's the one who almost peed because she's so scared when the monster came. But fine, Ill let that go for now. I would finally be able to go to a medieval city after all...
Shut up kid! Like you're one to talk. Let's just go!
Well, I failed. Why do I need to let this girl get away with something anyway.
When we walk through the gates we encountered other people trying to enter the gates too. While were on the way though, we were getting so many looks from people around.
Ehh? Why are they looking at me?
"Your clothes are making us stand out kuya."
It's just a lab coat though? Well, now that I looked at it, I'm the only one who wears white. I didn't remove my lab coat because it was kinda cold here after. I feel like I'm on the usual aircon temp of 20C. In my original world, our normal temperature is in the 26C you know! I also where my usual Polo and pants underneath. Yeah, kinda weird from the rest. I wonder if they are thinking of me like I'm a big shot or something?
Also, I noticed this kid's clothes is kinda weird too. Somehow her dress is like those of what men wore here instead of the female ones.
I noticed that they were more looking at me so I didn't put much notice on it anymore.
Our time to enter the gates came and
.. we were blocked by the soldiers.
"Hey! You two! Where do you think you're going?"
Shit! Wait! Is there any customs I have to do here? I thought you could just enter the gates anytime you want! I mean, most novels didn't say anything about entering the city gates you know!
"We are going inside! Do you have a problem!"
Ehh? To my side is the kid Alruna being so prideful that she even put both of her hands on her hips.
"Ha! Who are you kid!"
How can she be so positive like that?
Pssst, kid! Shut up! You're getting us in trouble you know.
Ahhh, as you can see..
I was going to reason out with the guard but when I suddenly look at him, a guy that wears the same thing as him suddenly came up to his ear and whispered something.
"Leave it to me kuya!"
The kid Alruna whispered onto me.
"Ahhh, well.. Sry for that rude behavior of my colleague here. Can you atleast pay for the entrance fee.
He said that while putting his right hand on his front. It's like he wants something to be put on his hands. After that, he close in to me and whispered something to me.
"You know, atleast for appearance sake. We still need to do our duties after all."
After he whispered that, he got back on his position and smiled to me and Alruna.
What is this guy saying? I don't understand what he meant at all.
"What did the guy said Kuya?"
Ehh, I also got near to Alruna's ear and said to him what the other guy said.
"Ha? Is that it? Okay let me handle that!"
She gave me thumbs up and walk up to guard.
She took something from her pocket and gave it to the guards.
After that, they let us enter the gate. The guy who blocked us on the other hand is having a face like that looks like me if I can see myself on the mirror.
We continued walking until we entered the city then I look again at my back.
They were still looking at us.
I didn't understand what happened at all. But since we entered the city, I guess that's ok.
...
Shit! What's that smell? Oh right! Shit! It smells like shit here!
When we entered the town, I was amazed by what I saw. The city is really like just what you will see in a medieval setting... though not like the eastern version but the European ones.
Because of that, I was disappointed but when I look at the floor, my vigor was replenished when I saw the roads and the floor are atleast made by stone... then the lurking smell came into my nose.
What the freaking thing is that smell. I want to throw up.
"Kuya, are you okay? What suddenly happened to you?"
Does she not smell that? It really stinks here you know? Oh right, she's living here. Of course she's already used to it. Though if I too would want to live here... I would need to get used to this also.
Unlike the novels that I've read.. It looks like it's hard to really get used to the other world.
