A half-burned body guy was sobbing in anguish as two police officers rushed past with a stretcher cart through the hospital's automatic sensor entrance. A 28-year-old man who was arriving at the same time as the burned man observed the man but he moved toward the reception area and began writing on the writing pad.
After a little wait, one of the officers yelled, "Are there no doctors available at this time?"
"Sir," the nurse retorted, "Hang on… We've already told the doctor, and he will arrive shortly."
"What? Do you have any consciousness of what this young man is going through?" The policeman said, "I guess this won't work; we are going to another hospital," as he turned to face the screaming, half-burned man.
The hospital's staff and patients could hear their chat while the 28-year-old man was silently examining the wounds of the badly burnt man. The 28-year-old man halted the stretcher when the police moved it out of the way. He approached the patient, assessed his burn wounds and said, "Nurse, give IV morphine… fast…"
As he spoke, he checked his blood pressure, pulse, and administered the injection. The nurse is asked by one of the policemen, "He is…. Who?"
The nurse replied, "Ah… Doctor…"
"Doctor? Really?"
"Ahh… not a doctor…"
The shocked officer asks, "Then how do you let him to treat a patient?"
"Just keep your mouth shut… He was among our hospital's top medical professionals."
"Was…? What then happened?"
A person in a white coat approaches the location as the police officer and nurse are having a conversation. All the nurses and the ward men backed away. He yelled out of nowhere, "Who allowed him to treat the patient recklessly?"
The surroundings went completely silent. When the police officer saw that 'Park Gi-man' name was printed on a white coat, he asked the nurse, "What's going on here? Why did he yell at him so loudly?"
The nurse who is standing next to the 28-year-old man replied, "Dr. Park, there was no doctor available when the burn patient was admitted so—"
She was stopped by a 28-year-old man who said, "She didn't do anything... I came here on my own initiative to help him."
Dr. Park asked as he got closer and closer to the man, "Do you wish to want to be fired? Or… do you want your hands to get dirty again?"
As Dr. Park continued, the 28-year-old guy became enraged and clenched his hand, but when he saw the burned man sobbing in anguish, he released his grip and apologized for treating his patients, "I apologize for treating your patients. I'm leaving now..." As he spoke, he calmly departed the area.
He enters the cabin while strolling with a disappointed expression on his face, and lets out a calm exhalation while keeping his eyes closed. He slowly exits the cabin after putting on his white coat.
The nurse stated to the cops who were asking questions nonstop, "Doctor Kim Joo-hyuk…"
She is met with the officer's blank gaze as he asks, "What?"
"The person who initially treated the patient… Kim Joo-hyuk is his full name."
Hyuk inserts his one hand on the hand of the white coat, on his way to ward.
The cop curiously asked, "He is a doctor…?"
The nurse explains, "He was formerly the hospital's chief cardiologist… Because of his alcoholism, he made a serious error that caused a girl to pass away."
The police officer gasps in disbelief, "What…!" He adds, "Now what's he doing here?"
When Hyuk entered the pediatric unit and saw some young kids playing blissfully with innocent faces, he instantly forgot about everything and smiled serenely.
The nurse stated, "After his period of suspension, management chose to appoint him as a pediatrician."
"Ohh…"
The nurse adds, "There is a restriction for him… that he should never treat a patient and do surgery without management consent."
"That is why Dr. Park severely reprimanded him."
"Yes… but he reprimanded him for—"
Unexpectedly, another nurse yelled, "Tae-ri… come fast… emergency…!" Consequently, the storyteller nurse Tae-ri left the place.
With a smile on his face, Hyuk examines the children.
The very next day, he went to the temple, worshiping the god with his eyes closed, while the guy nearby was curiously observing him. Hyuk abruptly questioned, without even turning to face him, "God is there... why are you staring at me for so long, Jin?"
Jin apologized, "Sorry…"
Slowly opening his eyes, Hyuk asks, "For what?"
"Because of yesterdays—"
Hyuk stopped him, "It's neither your fault nor mine… How am I supposed to stand there and witness that person's suffering? It's okay if I don't know how to treat him; however, I do, and I've spent five years studying for that, just to save people. …" He let out a sigh and looked around the temple, "Why are we here?"
After some time, Jin and Hyuk left the temple, and Hyuk spotted a woman hurriedly entering the temple. Hyuk glimpsed her face as she ran past him, and once she had done so, he briefly halted before turning around to stare at her face. He turned around and cast a glance at the woman.
Hyuk even seemed to forget himself while staring at her, she was shouting out someone's name loudly, "Ji-hoo… Ji-hoo…" The sun rays were shining warmly at the back of her head as he stared at her, surprisingly.
