The Argument 2

Shawn POV

"Leave my mommy alone," Ciara shouted at mom.

She's got a lot of nerves.

"Shut up you bastard." Mom cursed.

"Mom..." I called and she raised her hand and stopped me. "Watch what you say." I continued ignoring her.

"So you're supporting the good for nothing fellow?"

"You're the one who should be called such," I said pointing my index finger at her.

"How dare you?" Mom growled. "How dare you support the bitch?" She asked yelling at me.

"If you don't finish up on time, you'll go to the airport yourself. Go to the car and wait for me." I ordered and she was gobsmacked. She opened her mouth to say something, but she shut it back, then she carried her bags and hurried out of the room.

Julia sat on the bed cuddling Ciara who was crying, while Steve was just staring into space. I sat beside Julia who put her head on my shoulder, weeping.

"Mom is a jerk. How dare she say that?" Steve asked no one in particular.

"You're the one who started it. You shouldn't have asked mom that kind of question." I said and she raised her head and looked at me.

"Y...Y... You're blaming me?" She asked then she and mom walked out of the room.

I shouldn't have said that. It wasn't the right thing to say.

"It wasn't aunt Julia's fault, it's mom."

"Shut up." I shunned. "Were you here when it all happened?" asked as I handed the key to him, telling him to give Julia. I couldn't do it myself because she would still be angry with me.

The meeting was divided. I was suspended for having shut someone.

"He did it to protect himself."

"He should've called we, the cops."

"He's at fault..."

There were arguments and the meeting was divided.

I tried to let them know that it was he who shot himself, but they didn't want to listen to my point of view

I was suspended for a month and my gun and badge were seized. I was so furious but I kept it cool. If Julia was kidnapped, I would've been accused because they'll say I wasn't security conscious. They're just so frustrating.

I entered the house and it was quiet.

Hope all is well.

I checked my mom's room and it was locked from within.

Who entered mom's room and locked it?

I checked Julia's room but no one was around then I went to Poojah's ward there I found them.

"Uncle Shawn," Ciara shouted as she ran to hug me.

"Shhh..." I said putting my index finger on my lip signaling her to be quiet. "You don't want to disturb your sister, do you?" I asked.

"What of Steve?" I asked.

"He's in his room."

"What's he doing all alone in his room?" I asked staring at Julia who shrugged.

"I thought I told you never to leave each other's side," I said but she kept mute.

She was getting on my nerves. She wasn't even giving me a listening ear.

"How about mom?" I asked.

"She locked herself in her room," Ciara replied and I was surprised. I thought I took her to the airport.

I walked out of the ward and went to mom's room then I knocked continually on the door.

"Mom, I know you're in there, open the door. Don't let me be forced to break it."

After some time, she opened the door.

"Mom!" I exclaimed when I saw her. There were bags under her eyes and her eyes were red and puffy.

"You've been crying?" asked as we both sat on the bed. I placed my arms around her shoulders.

"I'm sorry about this morning." I apologized.

"It ain't your fault, neither is it hers, rather, it's my fault. I overreacted. I don't know if she'll forgive me."

"I'll talk to her, I know she'll forgive you."

"I tried apologizing to her but she ignored me, Steve himself didn't give me a listening ear. I know that I hurt her so much, I repaid good for evil." She said wiping tears from her eyes.

"I'll try and talk to her."

"Don't do that, I don't want her to be angry with you too. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine."

"Are you sure about that"

"Yeah." She replied.

I went out of the room then went downstairs to the sitting room in search of Julia. She was coming up the stairs while I was going down the stairs. She saw me and gave way for me so I could pass but I didn't.

"We need to talk."

"There's nothing to talk about," she replied and went up the stairs her shoulders brushing mine. I went after her.

"It's about my mom."

"So?" She asked as though she didn't care about her well-being. I held her by the wrist and dragged her to my room.

"Sit." I bellowed and she did.

"You need to apologize to mom before she becomes depressed."

"I should apologize to her?" She asked wryly. "You must be kidding me."

"Do I look like I'm cracking jokes here?" I asked and she raised an eyebrow.

"Should I be the one apologizing to her or vice versa?"

"Do you expect her to apologize to you? The fact that you work under her, eat free food, you don't pay rent. Isn't that enough reason to apologize? Whereas, she apologized to you earlier on." I said and she forced out a smile.

"She apologized to me? Did she tell you that?" She asked and smiled wryly.

"Are you trying to tell me that she was lying?" I asked gobsmacked.

"If that's what you think, then so be it." "I didn't know such words could come out of your mouth. Now I know you're nothing but a fool." She made to stand up but I pushed her back to the bed.

"How dare you!" I thundered. "How dare you call me a fool?" asked flaring with anger.

"That's because it's what you are."

"You don't want to see the other side of me, do you? Mom is out there crying her eyes out and here you are spitting nonsense from your mouth." I said shocked.

"I don't have your time." She said walking out of the room.

"Ingrate." I cussed.
