Chapter 7

Whilst Marth was teaching me about blacksmithing, he also explained how magic tools worked.

He picked up a metal tube with that looked like a welder, closed his eyes and then runes and lines started appearing on the tube, after that a small but concentrated flame appeared at the end of it... so it seemed to be a magical welding tool.

when he handed the welder to me, he told me to focus my mana and guide it from my body to the tool... [ye... I see a tiny problem with that...]

"Hmm, you learned everything else so quickly but why isn't the welder working" He said confused, whilst looking at the welder from all sides.

[Ookay gotta come up with an excuse... or, OR I can just tell him the truth.] ok you can do this me.

"The thing is Marth, I have n...never used a magical tool before" well that isn't a lie.

after my confession Marth let me rest for a bit whilst lending me the welder to try getting it to work, because of my midnight training with external mana manipulation I was able to easily guide the mana from my surroundings to the welder but it needed a constant stream of mana which it got from the user with the runes.

but in my case the runes gain nothing from my body thus I have to manually feed it a constant stream of mana with my mind, which at the moment takes a lot of my focus.

By the time I was getting used to the new tools, the merchants came to town, Shana and other workers sold their wares and the promised pay has been delivered, now my balance looks like this: 12 silver and 83 copper coins.

This worlds currency is coins made from precious metals, starting from copper, silver, gold and finally platinum.

100 copper is 1 silver, 100 silver - 1 gold and 100 gold - 1 platinum, 1,000,000 - 1 platinum (das a lota coppa).

Whilst I was in the town I didn't have any chances of going out for a hunt, so when I heard about Goblins appearing in the small patch of trees at the north east of Woodbrim, I got excited and volunteered to help exterminating them.

I bought some cheap light armor from Marth and a short sword for killing the monsters [and then cutting my meal].

The extermination team was comprised of 13 hunters and farmers, It seemed that some goblins have hurt few of the farmer's kids so they had to take revenge.

I volunteered to scout ahead so I could get few snacks in without being seen. when I got to the forest I saw small foot prints that looked similar to human's but slightly deformed and after following the trail I found a few animal carcasses with bits missing like a deer with no skull and front left leg or squirrel with their heads missing. most of the animals had only the pelt and bones remaining whilst everything else was eaten.
