She is dying

After doctor Scar left Maya's wardroom, he went and called Martin Leather to his office.

(Sitting straight, his fingers locked together) "I do not have much information but from what Maya said and judging from my analysis, the people behind her poison could be Lisa I don't know if you still remember her."

"Well, since I wasn't involved much, I'm not so sure if I can still remember her face."

"Oh, I see, anyway as I was saying it could be her or those guys that were wearing black. Amongst them, there should be someone who is targeting us or they are working together. Though our jobs are not threatened for now our lives are at stake so be careful and stay alert always. Did you have any other plans," asked Scar.

"Well, for a start I never wanted to be a nurse and I had always been planning for whatever comes my way and I knew a day like this would come one day, soon or later."

"Okay, I just wanted to give you some heads up so that you won't be caught unaware and end up like Maya."

"Sure, thanks for the information, I guess it's about time my plans come to life and it was good doing business with you doctor Scar."

"No problem," said Scar.

Martin left the office, and Scar was left to battle with his thoughts. His mind was all over as he tried to be as calculative as before so that he could be able to surpass his enemy. He had known that things might end up like this after their plan didn't go so well but he didn't expect his enemy to move so quickly. What made things a bit hard for him was that the previous events were still under investigation at the hospital, as much as he had always wanted to transfer from Francis Hospital, the timing was not right. He was no longer interested in working at Francis because of Ed who had always been the center of all the attention, he couldn't stand being second to him in everything. Though he had ended up in a relationship with Flora he could feel that if Ed wanted her, he wouldn't stand a chance. Scar wanted everything that Ed had and he was like a thorn in the flesh to him. However, now he couldn't transfer or just quit his job because that would raise more suspicion, which might lead to losing his medical license, and also becoming a damned doctor for life. His only option was to lay low and observe the direction that which the wind was blowing.

The following day doctor Flo came back to work, to replace Ed who was now under suspension, she also had received the $10000 that Anne had promised. Scar tried to talk to her as they used to but the other party always ignored him or she would just give her one-word answers which made him feel uncomfortable. The vibe that Flora was giving him was off and he knew that something was wrong so he decided to get to the bottom of the issue during their lunch break. He went on and knocked on doctor Flo's door just a few minutes before lunch break.

"Come in," said doctor Flo as she proceeded to finish going through some of her patients' reports.

Scar got in and sat on the chair that was in front of Flo's desk.

"Can we talk," he said looking at her with worried eyes and a serious face.

"About?" Said Flo without lifting her head.

(Annoyed) "Us of course."

"Go ahead," said Flo without showing any care.

(Surprised) "Huh?"

Scar was expecting Flo to say something but she didn't, say anything but rather continued with her job.

"Okay, fine let me ask you did I do something wrong?"

"Why are you asking?"

"Your attitude towards me has just hit 360 degrees turn, you have been cold and always giving me one-word answers."

"Yeah, because I am busy, we are here to work not for romance."

"Seriously Flo, this is not you. (Checking his wristwatch) It's lunchtime now and you are pretending to be busy just to avoid me, tell me what's going on?"

"Nothing is going on, I have just decided to be professional and stand for my reputation as the best and classic doctor, do you have any problem with that?"

"Since when…"

"Since today and stop asking me stupid questions Scar, if you have nothing to say you may excuse me and we will discuss personal matters after work."

"Ah, are you asking me out of your office?"

(No answer)

"I see, we will talk after work then, but remember you and I are still in a relationship and if we are not good, let's talk about it."

Scar left Flo's office with so many mixed feelings, he had never seen her in such a mood. Though he wasn't so much invested in their relationship she used to seem to be serious about it. Whenever they had a misunderstanding, she would make sure that they talked everything out. He could see stars of love each time that she looked at him, but now for the few seconds that she just lifted her head and looked at him, he could feel the cold in them, the love that used to brim in them was gone. Though his sixth sense was telling him that she knew that he had a hand in the previous events but the question that kept on bothering him was how did she know, would Lisa be that careless and just tell all and sundry about who was behind the hospital incident? How much Lisa or the guys in black knew was the other question that was bothering him.

On the other hand, after Scar left her office Flo put down the papers that were in her hand and banged the table with her hand. She was so angry and disgusted. First, she was angry at herself for being foolishly in love such that she got blinded and couldn't distinguish between reality and fantasy, she felt like Scar was leading her by the nose all this while. Also, although she knew the truth, she couldn't say anything because she had no proof and that same truth will be more like digging her own grave as well as everyone around her including the hospital. Second, she was disgusted because she had kissed those same lips that lied to her several times, she had fallen for a rotten heart, that couldn't even hesitate to shed a relative's blood, and worse she had even shared the same bed with the devil himself. Third, she had to contain herself so that she won't burst and happen to spill the beans, which was something very difficult. Just the thought of it and how much she felt used made her silently cry, but as a doctor on duty, she had to pull herself together and concentrate on her job by all means possible.

On another note, Anne and her team were busy analyzing how things were likely to go and also strategizing how they would take care of everything. Everyone had to think out of the box and they had to put themselves in the shoes of these newly found enemies. Whilst they were still busy with their discussions Anne received a call.

"Hey D (He is the doctor that had been taking care of me(Tasha) since day one)."

"Greetings The Midnight."

"You don't sound okay what's wrong?"

"Pardon me boss but may I know if you can come over?"

"Huh? (Annoyed) D you know I have some business to take care of, I just got here and I can't be back to country XY just like that. When you called, I was in the middle of something very important, and if you don't want to talk just drop the call."

"Pardon me, boss, I won't waste much of your time then. The reason why I have called is that we have a problem."

(Sounding irritated) "I'm listening."

"It's Miss Tasha she had a major hemolytic transfusion reaction."

"Why don't I like the sound of what you just said, can you just speak English please?"

"Well, what I mean is that because of her blood type her immune system vigorously attracted the opposite blood that was transfused into her system. Her cells were ripped apart and tons of chemicals were released into her system. The results that are most likely to happen are kidney failure, shock, and if worse turn into worst ultimate death."

"I still haven't gotten where the problem still lies."

"The problem is that a major hemolytic transfusion reaction is usually recognized after 24 hours…"

"What!?"

"Yes, boss."

"How is Tasha?"

"Her condition is not good, I'm afraid she won't last long."

(With a low voice, full of emotions and also breaking) "Mea…meaning…sh…she…she is dying."

(Hesitant) "I apologize for bringing you bad news boss, but that could be the case."

In this chapter, everything might not seem to be making sense but eventually, you will all understand.
