"Now tell me," Siegren mouthed dangerously. "Where is the numen of the Fallen God?" ** After the Fallen War, all realms of Aeterna were destroyed, and what is left is a crumbling remnant of the mortal world. Scattered in the four continents of this remnant are fragments of the fallen god's power—the numen. A chosen few were known to harbor the knowledge about the numen, and one of them is Lumi, a priestess who was imprisoned in a temple as a catalyst for divine power. One night, a gruesome massacre occurred in the temple, freeing Lumi from imprisonment. The attacker was Siegren, a mysterious man who has the ability to render divine power worthless. With a sword on the throat of the head priest, he asked for the numen of the fallen god. Lumi, who wanted to escape her predestined fate as the catalyst for power, offered a deal to the one who killed more than half of the temple's clerics—the man named Siegren. In exchange for his assistance in her journey to reunite with her parents, she would guide him to find the twelve lost pieces of the fallen god's power. He spat and beckoned me forward with one hand, rolling the blade in the other. “Come on, Assassin,” he goaded me. “Come be a warrior for the first time. Come see what it feels like. Come on, boy. Be a man.” It was supposed to anger me, but instead it made me focus. I needed him alive. I needed him to talk. I leapt over the branch and into the clearing, swinging a little wildly to push him back but recovering my stance quickly, before he could press forward with a response of his own. For some moments we circled one another, each waiting for the other to launch his next attack. I broke the stalemate by lunging forward, slashing, then instantly retreating to my guard. For a second he thought I’d missed. Then he felt the blood begin to trickle down his cheek and touched a hand to his face, his eyes widening in surprise. First blood to me. “You’ve underestimated me,” I said. His smile was a little more strained this time. “There won’t be a second time.” “There will be,” I replied, and came forward again, feinting towards the left then going right when his body was already committed to the wrong line of defence. A gash opened up in his free arm. Blood stained his tattered sleeve and began dripping to the forest floor, bright red on brown and green needles. “I’m better than you know,” I said. “All you have to look forward to is death . . .”

First review by yours truly. This is my 2nd fantasy novel (male-leading) and my entry for WSA 2022. About MC (Siegren) * Personality: Silent. A man of few words (in the initial chapters) * Weapon: Uses a greatsword/claymore called “Soulless” that could absorb and nullify any type of power * Abilities: — Unknown * Remarks: His thoughts and background will be revealed later on as the story progresses About FMC (Lumi) * Personality: Sassy. Usually talks but not to the point of annoyance. * Abilities: Divine Power * Remarks: Despite her ‘divinity,’ she’s not a saint. She could kill people without batting an eye, and pass it off as “penance” and punishment from the Goddess. I outlined this over a year ago and made a bunch of illustrations featuring the characters and scenes from the book. The way you word things is awkward. It's like your trying to impress the reader instead of focusing on clarity. That being said, I could follow the story for the most part. Read your work aloud and smooth over the bumpy parts before you put out chapters that the best advice I can give
