James didn't back down from his mother in the least. Then abruptly said, "Do you think I watch the wrong things? Mother, I'm coming from there. Be certain that Richard will shortly join the expedition. Why did you act in that way? Adela and Richard meet once again, solely because of you."
Not knowing how that could have happened caused Alison to purse her lips. James's words abruptly interrupted her thoughts.
"Mother, I will not let Richard take Adela away from me. She is my secret weapon, and if I lose it in any way, I won't be able to ascend to the throne. To have her, I will do whatever it takes, and if I am unsuccessful, I will not allow Richard to have her as well."
James hurried out of the chamber after saying this. Alison attempted to stop her son, but she wasn't brave enough to do so. She loses her composure in front of her son. But the fact that Adela managed to break the spell bothered her. Did Adela have the blessing of God?
