It was time for James to speak once Richard finished. James stepped forward and turned to face the crowd. He smiled and started giving his speech. Though he wasn't interested in the mission, he wanted to go because of Adela. And now that he realizes he can't bring Adela along, it would be better if he completely ruined Richard.
