"But Adela-," Alfred was about to say something, but he stopped in the middle. Seeing Alfred tighten up, the physician spoke out.

Alfred seemed gloomy as he listened to the doctor. He also understood that the doctor was correct—no one could predict what would happen in the future.

"But I just can't. She'll be concerned if she finds out." Alfred spoke while heaving a sigh.

Alfred was contemplating something serious. Adela was a miraculous child for him and his wife, and they treasured her.

Alfred's perspective.

My daughter is attempting to be killed. But who? Exactly who has the nerve to poison my Adela?

When Alfred was thinking about Adela, he heard a door opening sound.

He turned around and noticed his lovely daughter's smile.

"Father".

"My princess," Alfred remarked with a smile.

[The scene was changed to the garden]

"Camilla, are you all right?" Francis asked.

Camilla timidly replied, "Yes, Francis."

They had little in common to talk about. Camilla was completely at a loss for words when she met Francis. She frequently wanted to speak with him, but could not articulate her feelings for Francis.

Francis abruptly broke the ice with a remark.

"Do you intend to attend tonight?"

"Yes".

Camilla gave the complete answer in one word. But a lovely smile was always apparent on her face.

"After that, we'll get together again in the evening."

Camilla gave a slight nod but said nothing after hearing Francis. Thus Francis spoke out again, "So, I think I must depart at this moment."

Camilla turned to look at Francis. She was a little surprised because Francis had just come here from the battlefield. And now he stated he needed to go right now. So, what's the point of coming here?

Camilla immediately asked, "Francis, you just came here?"

"I just came here to meet Adela. Now that I've seen her, I've had to go," Francis replied without hesitating. His beaming expression drew Camilla's attention.

But Camilla's heart was broken when she heard his honest response. Camilla lowered her head with sadness and remained silent.
