"So..." Jacob Parker started and then he stretched his arms at the backrest of the long sofa. His wife beside him leaned closer to his body as if knowing that it was what he wanted and it was indeed because his stretched arms instinctively wrapped around her shoulder and pulled her closer. "...what's wrong,"
"Don't deny it, Nic. I am your mother so I know how to read every expression on your face, every gesture of your body. I would know it when your 'I'm fine' means 'I'm not fine'. You cannot lie to me or your father," J Parker said then she sipped the hot liquid from her tea cup.
Nic sighed because his mother was right. He cannot lie to her. But he cannot help but be suspicious of his father. He cannot lie to him for two reasons. One, his mother always tells her husband if she knows that something is wrong. Two, his father, just like Alex Ogden, knows everything that is going on around him. If he is curious about one thing, he has a way of knowing it.
