The promise (Drake's PoV) part 3

"Can you tell me your name?" I asked her, curious about who she was.

"My name is Mira, I'm just an ordinary tree spirit who happened to have had put a contract with you, from my master" the tree spirit spoke with a melancholic tone.

"Who was your master before me?" I asked her.

"Her name was Eleanor, she was a maid at Bernstein's house, it was a cold winter that time, and she was carrying you, with bruises and injuries all over her body. The maid transferred the contract I had with Her, to you" she continued.

"She told me not to hand over you to the Bernstein family, not anyone unless they have a good heart, and so I had to satisfy her will, it took months to nurture you by feeding fruits, veggies and milk from animals"

"Until finally I met that person, the holy priestess who had been blessed by the goddesses of dryads. That person was your foster parent Reina, My prophecy was right, you could finally have your own family to live with, and thus I have satisfied my master's will, or so I thought.."

"Day and night I've always been worried about you, i often get paranoid over it, until right now, I finally met you, now I can finally be at ease for trusting her" the tree spirit holds my hand with pleasure, showing me her memories, I felt aweful for making her worry, but at the same time I felt grateful that she cared about me.

"I'm sorry for making you worry." I replied to her with a sense of guilt, as I hugged her.

"it's fine, I'm more at ease, now that I see you right now, my my you've grown up alot" she said with slight blush on her face, somehow in this realm I could tell how she felt, and vice versa for her.

"I-" I stood their cluelessly pondering about what to tell her.

"Would you visit me like this once in a while" she asked with a wide smile.

"Yes, I'd love to, I heard that nymphs are pretty evil but you're totally different from that" I sneered at her.

"kid, now you're slandering me, my existence is not that evil, humans are just scared about the things they don't know" Mira said with a pouted face.

"That's true, as a human being myself, I've to admit evil deeds are universal, maybe it's just that not all creatures are born evil..ouch" she pinched my cheeks, when I was about to finish my monologue.

"Little boy, why are you thinking too deeply about life, you're barely two years old. Don't fret over good and evil, just live carefree and also, you must always protect yourself, I felt that you consider yourself as a liability in most situations, please be hopeful even if the odds are stacked against you" she said, while coiling her arms around the back of my head.

That time I had decided that I'd live this life to the fullest, not as a loser but as a someone who's commendable enough, even if it had the slightest amount of praise or approval.

Luckily I felt my head touching something, ah yes, soft yet small, such mounts are definitely SSS tier.

"Boy...I can sense your intentions, and it's..." I was careless, her instincts were sharp, also this is a realm that can share all of our feelings and intentions to each other.

"what is it?" I pretend to ask as if nothing had happened, like an innocent little boy.

"Hmph, keep this in mind, never forget to meet me every now and then, especially if you're nearby, I'll be waiting for you" said Mira while kissing on my cheek.

Finally back to the real world, Reina was worried about me, but luckily nothing happened to me. meanwhile I was glad that I finally met a less annoying tsundere tree spirit.

"Did you communicate with the tree spirit" Reina asked, curious about the outcome.

"Yes mother" i couldn't help but smile, it was extremely pleasing for me, a loser like me somehow ended up having a new life.

"For some reason why do I feel that I'm jealous of this tree" Reina thought to herself (Reina pov)

Back at home, I tried to read the manga in this world, there was TV as well but it wasn't much interesting, people also had smartphones here, but these are way too advanced compared to the modern world that I had been living in. Yet somehow the innovation seemed like they're using from scraps. As if it was remnants of a lost civilization.

"mama, when are you buying me a phone?" I asked with an innocent expression.

"No phones for you, not until your a capable adventurer like me" she roared at me, it's time to use that, my secret weapon.

"sniff..sniff..WAAAA" my emotions were genuine at that moment, yet it worked. Reina looked at me with nervousness, she seemed worried about me, "kekeke all according to plan" I hate to admit but I felt that I had a superiority complex that time.

"this.." Reina was deeply cluttered in her thoughts, I wonder what she had up on her head but, I could smell money, her hands were slightly shaking, "sure enough it's going smoothly" or so I thought it would.

"Alright fine, I'll be a good mommy, but you have to wear those kind of outfits within my jurisdiction" she beamed with a grin, insinuating about the girlish clothes, while hiding a devilish smile within,

"Dammit, women these days are so fucking scary, Old man please forgive me, I beg you, save me from this devil Queen" I thought to myself that moment, the plan had miserably backfired, "no I can't lose, I have try again" somehow she had been holding herself, "I hope this works, please work"

"WAAA" I had started bawling fiercely, staying on my knees in front of her while closing my eyes. But at that moment I felt something strange, the air around me felt strange and the ground somehow felt like it was vibrating. Soon enough before I knew it, I messed up big time, I had exposed myself.

A barrier was created destroying the metal floor nearby, which radiated an extreme luminescence that was blinding enough to virtually anyone nearby, Reina was shocked to witness such a power coming from me, that she had to use her hands to cover her head while closing her eyes.

Soon I opened my eyes as I had ceased my wails, the bright light blinded me as I covered my eyes with it, only to find myself in shock, equally Reina had been also worried.

"Drake.." she came forward slowly, holding an eye contact, staying in the same position like I am, especially in front of me. gently laying her hands on my cheek.

"Promise me that you'll never show this power to anyone except mama, mama says that it's good to keep it as a secret okay?" she said, utterly terrified of my power.

"Yes" i said with a frown, at that moment I felt guilty trying to use her, just to buy a new phone out of her pockets. Unbeknownst to me she knew how powerful I was at that instant, it could've nearly rivalled her.

Reina smiled at time, thinking I had some conscience. And so I said "as long as mama won't let me wear girlish clothes, I'll do what it" I didn't care about the phone, but I hated wearing girlish clothes. It hit her right on spot now she can't hide me forever am I right?

"Fine, but you must allow mama to take pictures of you in those outfits" she said with a sad tone, as if she'd break out in tears, somehow I got attached to her.

"humph, okay, as long as I'm not forced" I grunted like a tsundere, crossing my arms while establishing a rapport,

She stands up while lifting me under her arms, since I was small, as I stare at her with a fierce look and a wide ball eyes, immediately Reina starts tittering at my cute little face, in response I beamed at her.

"I love you Drake" says Reina, glaring at me.

"love you mama" I said, glowing into her soul.

It's been 5 years, I've trained myself alot with Reina, reached 4th tier mystic but Reina was still more powerful than me.

One day a suspicious lady visited my home, She was a brunette with a long ponytail and aristocratic clothes, just from a first glance even a kindergarten child could deduce her as rich. And at the top of it she was gorgeous too. I had been peeping at them through the corridor, while hearing their conversation.

"Reina San, you look pretty good in that dress" she compliments Reina with a warm smile.

"S-shut up" she blushed "you're pretty as well, anyways why did you come here, Rui" Reina asked her.

"I have good news for you, congratulations for your son, Drake, he scored an S rank, and had successfully passed the exam flawlessly. a seat is open for enrollment at Orion academy" Said Rui.

"Woah, seriously?" Reina seemed nervous yet somehow she really wanted me to attend that academy.

"Yes, I mean it. He's perfect, although it might seem like he wouldn't join, the doors are always open for him" said Rui, amiably encouraged my mom that she's not forcing him to join. little did she know that it was bad decision.
