Dark Side of the Labyrinth

Pico, Gran, Hans, and Leo were part of an organization named Red Skull. They were recognized for their Red Skull tattoo on their backs. Their organization focuses on lawless business like abduction, slavery, prostitution, gambling dens, and loan sharks.

"Hey, Gran, is what your source said, true?" Pico asked Gran.

They were identical quadruplets and they were bald, their outfits were also the same. The only difference is their color schemes. Gran chose black, Pico chose yellow, Hans chose red, and Leo chose blue.

"Of course, the source was from boss who have some spies in the Kingdom. If we manage to capture at least one hero, then we will be rich and we'll be promoted." Gran said but Pico was still skeptical.

"You're too paranoid, Pico. Let's just do it just like we always do. No one's going to touch the Red Skulls anyway." Hans said making Pico frown.

"Hans is right. You are being too paranoid, Pico. Let's just get it done and if we manage to get some women, we'll be able to taste them." Leo said with a perverted smile.

"Shhh. Quiet, there they are." Gran said as he made them shut up.

"What are they doing? Why stop near the entrance?" Pico asked anxiously.

"*whistle* Too many juicy meats ripe for the taking." Leo said while eyeing the womens of the group.

"All you think is debauchery, that's why you still owe boss a lot of money." Hans grunted in displeasure.

"What can I say? My lust is hard to suppress." Leo replied to his brother.

"Be quiet. I think we found our target. 5 person are going to go ahead. Pico, the trap, is it ready?" Gran asked Pico who nodded his head.

"Great, we will lure the skeleton horde near them and trap them. Leo, Hans, do it discreetly, I'm sure the security outside the Labyrinth is increased because Heroes are coming to train here." Gran said and they started moving.

*

After clearing the Skeleton horde, he let the party members while he guard the entrance of the crevice as a guardian. Not a long time after Vergil meditated, he opened his eyes. They are finally making a move.

"Hajime, bring Nana, Yuka, and Taeko deeper into the crevice." Vergil said and Hajime opened his eyes filled with confusion. Yuka, NNana and Taeko have fallen asleep without them knowing because of mana exhaustion, like Shizuku.

"Just follow my words, don't ask why." Vergil said and Hajime complied as he carried Yuka first and headed deeper into the crevice.

"Come out. Why are you hiding there?" Vergil said coldly.

"You're not coming out?" Vergil asked once more and the quadruplets were looking at each other but Gran shook his head telling them not to make a move.

Vergil, seeing that no one came out, replaced his normal sword with Yamato. The quadruplets didn't notice that his weapon changed.

Vergil opened his hand and placed it backward. Streams of mana started flowing from his hand. With the thick mana he spread out, he controlled them to materialize as a one way barrier and covered the crevice. Vergil could see inside but Hajime and the others couldn't.

He might not be on par with his master on his skills, but in terms of controlling his own mana, he had already reached above the passable grade. It was because Vergil drilled it to him everyday. He wouldn't care if there's a combat training, he would force you to control your mana and maintain its control until he deemed it good enough.

*

The quadruplets, seeing that they could not see what's inside the barrier, finally noticed something amiss.

"Gran, aren't we making our move?" Hans asked Gran.

"I don't know, I suddenly felt bad feeling about this." Gran's intuition was telling him to run away. But if he did then such a rare chance of prey would escape their hands.

*

"Since no one's coming out. I'm coming for you." Vergil's demeanor changed after summoning Yamato.

Gran who was watching Vergil was alarmed.

"We need to get out of here, now." Gran said to his brothers.

"Too late." Vergil's cold voice could be heard from their back as he stabbed Hans' leg with Yamato.

Seeing Vergil suddenly appearing behind them like a ghost. they were startled. Other than things regarding mana control, DarkSlayer arts was nearing perfection because he would be torn to pieces if he wouldn't evade Vergil's random attacks of the day. He even attacked him with a judgement cut while eating.

"F*ck!" Hans' cursing and scream was all they heard as Vergil vanished once more. Soon, Hans' scream was silenced. Vergil took Hans' head with him as he vanished.

Seeing Hans' dead, they immediately ran for their lives. Not caring anymore if they are brothers or not. All they thought was to escape from the ghost they provoked.

Vergil, staring at the three escapees, sighed and focused. He placed his hand on the hilt of the sword and from an iai stance, three quickdraws were unleashed.

Gran, Leo, and Pico, who were running for their lives were ravaged by sword cuts, ending it with a sword cut to their neck, all of their heads fell off.

"Judgement cut was still a little small, but the distance was passable at least. Looks like I finally have an excuse to bring you out." Vergil said as he evaluated himself. He kept on talking as if he's talking to someone but he was looking at his sword.

Vergil collected his enemy's heads and returned to the crevice. He saw Hajime trying to peer what's outside the one way barrier.

"You better be prepared by what you're going to see if you keep on looking like that." Vergil's voice entered Hajime's ears and he immediately backed away from the barrier and pretended to rest.

Vergil removed the barrier and the smell of blood entered Hajime's nose and when he opened his eyes, the sight of four heads came to view making him wretch and ended up vomiting what he ate at breakfast.

Vergil didn't stop him from doing so, when he was being trained, he didn't have time to vomit at his own wounds because his master would make him vomit by giving him a blow to the solar plexus making him out of breath and at the verge of vomiting.

"W-w-why are t-there heads-" Hajime vomited once more when he thought about the heads on Vergil's hands.

"Rest up. We're going back to the adventurer guild's training hall after the girls wake up. I will clear the way ahead so you won't be targeted by mobs and they won't see the heads of those who laid their eyes on us." Vergil said making Hajime sort of understand the situation Vergil was just in.

Hajime still felt his stomach wretch but he hardened his stomach and asked Vergil.

"Who are they?" He asked.

"The ones who set up the skeleton horde. They seem to be trying to kidnap our party." Vergil's cold voice entered Hajime's ears and he couldn't help but shiver at Vergil's words.

"I see." Hajime said as he closed his eyes to rest.

Vergil sat down and meditated. A white mist once again covered his consciousness.

"What's the matter, old man?" Vergil asked Zeltretch.

"Well, just asking how you're feeling after killing for the first time?" Zeltretch said making Vergil looked at his hands.

"I was always beaten near to death, sliced up if i'm inattentive, shredded if I'm not careful. Master's teachings were not about his skill. Its about the mindset of Kill or Be Killed. That's why when they sent that horde towards us. they fell on to that category, thus I emerged victorious. I get to live because they died. That's all there is to it." Vergil said making Zeltretch nod his head in approval.

"Also, I tried following your advice to act around my current body age. As expected, It didn't fit at all and made me uncomfortable." Vergil said as Zeltretch had an amused smile on his face.

"Hmm... Is that so? Well, this old man is only here to chat with you, I'm kinda bored, you know. How about a bet?" Zeltretch asked but Vergil just shook his head. He won't easily fall under Zeltretch's trap.

"Oh come on. Its going to be easy really. If you win, I'll give you a way to make travelling to other worlds easier." Zeltretch said gaining Vergil's interest.

"If you have that kind of reward, I'm pretty sure that the bet is not going to be easy." Vergil said while Zeltretch just smirked.

"How do you feel like playing in Hell and Hell mode?" Zeltretch asked making Vergil frown.

"If you get hit by any enemy cleanly, you lose." Zeltretch continued.

"What's in it for you?" Vergil asked.

"I'm just a kind old man, if you win, me and Tet will give you a way to travel other worlds easily, if you lose, just call me grandpa. See? My punishment's not harsh at all." Zeltretch said with a wide smile.

"I accept." Vergil accepted confidently.

"Hm? I thought you'd decline that and I would have to use other words to persuade you." Zeltretch said after pondering for a few moments.

"One clean hit. right? So if its just a graze, it doesn't count?" Vergil asked and Zeltretch nodded.

"Don't worry, you won't lose anything even if you lost." Zeltretch said making Vergil's face distort.

"Calling you grandpa wasn't a harsh punishment? How many husband do you think will come for my head just to get back at you? If not for your horny tendencies and being a trouble magnet, I would've thought about the offer seriously." Vergil said and snorted.

"Awww. Busted. Well... isn't it good for you? You can treat those husbands as training partners while I'll be their wives' training partner." Zeltretch said shamelessly.

"F*ck! I'm leaving!" Vergil roared, his face distorting into anger as his consciousness returned to his own body.

I just love how people are still trying to find logic when I clearly said to throw common sense off the table. Just because it was logical in the light novel doesn't mean it will be logical here. Its an AU FFS.

As for those saying 'This was not Vergil', MC's in what you call adjustment period. His time with the original Vergil is different to the time he was summoned to another world. He's still adjusting on how he will carry himself at the new world, that's why Zeltretch suggested to act to his body age if he's unsure and MC certainly did, as you can see in the past few chapters. And here, he admitted that it was not for him. I know Vergil really well, I've read a lot of things about him. There's an analysis back on my old version of this novel.

I am going to emphasize this right now, this is an AU semi wish fulfillment novel with a little plot. If you're looking for a novel that has no plot holes and perfectly created story, this is not for you.

This will be my last time addressing such topics. Rather than argue with people, I would rather write a new chapter or continue writing my thesis.
