Chapter 9 *Rewritten*

Kai flew high above City A, his feet barely touching the air as he hovered with ease. Behind him, fiery wings glowed brightly, their warm light cutting through the dimming sky.

The city below was massive, stretching out in every direction, full of tall buildings, busy streets, and countless people.

"It's huge,"

Kai muttered to himself, his voice swallowed by the wind.

The sheer size of City A was impressive—this was a place that never seemed to stop moving, with people from all walks of life living in every corner.

But despite the city's vastness, something darker lingered in his mind.

"But it'll get destroyed in seconds,"

he added, his tone darker now. The memory of Boros' invasion, when the alien conqueror had wiped out entire cities with overwhelming power, still weighed heavily on him.

He remembered how cities had been reduced to rubble, how the world had been pushed to the brink of collapse.

As Kai hovered over the city, he thought about the hero known as Metal Knight, the mastermind behind many of the technological defenses in place to protect the city.

Metal Knight had used his vast resources to fortify the city, and now, those defenses were supposed to keep City A safe from powerful threats

. Metal Knight could rebuild City A into a fortress if needed, using machines and advanced technology to turn the city into a near-impenetrable stronghold.

The Hero Association's headquarters, in the heart of the city, would be the central hub for these efforts.

Kai's mind wandered, imagining the busy engineers, working day and night to keep the city safe. But even with all the technology, Kai couldn't shake the feeling that something else was coming, something that couldn't be stopped by walls or machines.

His thoughts shifted again. City Z, he recalled. It was known for being different from the other cities.

It wasn't just a place full of heroes, it was home to some of the world's most dangerous monsters as well.

That was where Saitama, the strongest hero, lived. The same city also had the Monster Association's underground headquarters, a secret base where powerful monsters like Orochi and Psykos made their plans.

The thought of those monsters—and the strange events in City Z—caught Kai's attention.

Without much more thought, Kai decided to head to City Z.

As he flew towards the city, the landscape below began to change. City Z wasn't as polished as City A, but it had its own charm.

The buildings were a mix of old and new, with some neighborhoods full of life while others had an eerie, empty feel.

As Kai descended, he took note of the three main areas that made up the city: the busy residential district, the thriving business center, and the mysterious Ghost Town.

The Ghost Town was notorious for being a hotspot for powerful monsters, which made it all the more dangerous

. Saitama's home was in the Ghost Town, an area known for being empty and forgotten by most. Yet, it was also where the strongest hero in the world lived.

Weird place for a guy who can knock out anything with one punch, Kai thought, a little intrigued by the simplicity of Saitama's life.

But at that moment, Saitama wasn't on Kai's mind. There was something more important. Fubuki's organization, Kai remembered.

He had heard of them before—a group of B-Class and A-Class heroes, led by Fubuki, a hero known for her charisma and ambition.

It was an organization that Kai had been wanting to check out.

Kai landed outside a large university in City Z. The campus was lively, filled with students rushing between classes.

There was a certain energy here—students talking in groups, laughing, and sharing their thoughts.

The university was large and impressive, full of modern buildings and sprawling lawns.

As he stood at the entrance, a few curious students noticed him. The sight of a hero with wings flying down from the sky was a rare one, and soon a small crowd started gathering around him.

They were asking questions—what was his hero rank? What powers did he have? What was his name?

Kai gave them a modest smile, answering their questions with a mix of humility and confidence.

"I'm not officially a hero yet," he said. "But I'm working on it."

One student, a bit more cautious than the others, raised his hand.

"Do you think monsters will attack the university?" he asked, a hint of concern in his voice.

Kai laughed a little. "I'm not a hero yet, and you're as safe as you are every day." His response seemed to reassure the group, though some of them still looked a little nervous.

A few students even chuckled, trying to ease their own anxiety.

As Kai chatted with the students, the attention only grew. He was becoming the center of attraction, particularly for some of the young women, who were throwing him shy glances and even inviting him to various student events.

The attention was a little overwhelming, but Kai took it in stride. Being a hero meant dealing with this kind of thing, he figured. If he was going to be a hero, he'd have to learn to handle it.

As Kai was talking, he noticed someone walking out of the building—a tall young man with a confident smile, arm linked with a woman who had dark black hair.

Kai instantly recognized him. Suiryu, the martial artist. He had seen Suiryu fight before, and the man's carefree attitude towards heroism had always amused him.

Despite being strong enough to rival S-Class heroes, Suiryu chose not to become a full-time hero, instead enjoying life on his own terms.

Suiryu approached him with a grin, clearly looking to test him.

"You want to be a professional hero?" he asked, his voice playful but with a hint of challenge.

Kai raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the man's directness. "Yeah? What's wrong with that? You don't like heroes?"

Suiryu's smile widened. "Heroes protect everyone from the monsters. Who doesn't like them?"

Kai couldn't help but chuckle. It was a bit ironic. Here was someone with enough power to take down most enemies, yet he didn't seem to care about saving anyone unless it was on his own terms.

Interesting, Kai thought.

"I'm not here to play games with you, kid," Kai said dismissively, ready to move on.

"Go find something else to do."

Suiryu's eyes flashed with surprise, and his fists clenched in response to the insult.

It was clear he wasn't used to being brushed off like this.

Kai glanced over his shoulder with a smirk.

"Don't make me commit murder on my first day here."

The mood shifted instantly. The weight of Kai's words, and the killing intent in his voice, made Suiryu freeze for a second.

It was enough to send a chill down his spine.

It was a clear reminder that there were levels of strength beyond what most people could imagine.

Before the tension could escalate any further, Suiryu's companion, the black-haired woman, stepped in.

She spoke softly but firmly, pulling Suiryu away from the confrontation.

Suiryu gave Kai one last look, his pride clearly stung, before following her toward the exit.

Kai watched them leave, feeling a small sense of satisfaction. That should have been a good lesson for him.

He turned back to the university students, who were now looking at him with a mix of admiration and awe.

Despite the brief tension, it had all worked out—Kai had made his point without anyone getting hurt.

As he looked around the campus again, he couldn't help but think about the path ahead. He hadn't officially joined the Hero Association yet, but it felt like things were already starting to change
