Chapter 42: Family

The rest of the day passed, and Lilith found herself looking over her shoulder for any signs of any horses, headless men, and/or headless horses. She had made sure to keep a watch out of the windows of Willow’s clinic, and for the first time in a long time, she didn’t want to head home.

Wherever that might be.

She sat at a window-sill, one leg propped up on it, with Lilith’s gaze falling on the rising moon. “Uncle,” she said to herself. “Why are you doing this? Wasn’t…weren’t we enough?”

The night, nor the moon, held any answers. It rarely did.

…Or had it ever?

Lilith sighed and closed her eyes, allowing darkness to take over her vision for a moment. Her throat was panged and her lips dry. She hadn’t fed in a while, and while it was possible to drink blood from a person without turning them into a vampire, so long as she didn’t drink too hard, it didn’t change the fact that she wasn’t up to it.

She didn’t have an appetite at the moment, literally.
