Chapter 7
Evan touches his smooth face. He hadn’t thought about how he would look to these children. To a child, he must look pretty much just like a shaved Felis without a tail. Not that she can see his backside where his tail would be.
“Dr. Kidd is a human, sweetie,” Nanook says.
“Oh, yeah! I’ve seen people like you on TV. Don’t you get cold without fur?” Lily May asks, and then she coughs, and it’s clear by her face that the movement causes her a lot of pain.
“You know what, Lily May? I do get cold. You’re a smart little kitten. Do you mind if I take a look at you? Just like Dr. Wayra does. No needles or anything like that,” Evan says gently, hoping to make her smile, which she does.
“Okay,” Lily May says softly.
