“How did you find it?” Officer Jenkins asks.

“Moving the bed when we were cleaning up,” Evan lies. “It was between two slats of wood. It was hard to see,” Evan adds.

“Well, I’m glad you found it and were both honest enough to hand it in. You could have made a lot of money from that information. Mr. Homes did,” Officer Jenkins says.

“Evan is a real doctor. He’d never make money from people’s suffering. That money is blood money. We want no part in it,” Rene says, and Evan wants to kiss him. Rene has been through so much with doctors, yet he still trusts Evan, still thinks he’s a good man. Evan’s glad that his being a doctor isn’t stopping him and Rene from becoming closer.

“Well, I’m glad you two are honest people. There are a lot of big people with blood on their hands. They need to be punished. Not only will dozens of families be suing the ass off this company, but there’ll be a lot of people going to jail,” Officer Jenkins says firmly.
