Chapter 15

“No, but I don’t want you to wake up in the morning pissed that you slept with a human. I want to give you space to have a hissy fit without it blowing over on me.” Evan looks…It’s hard to put a finger on it, but then Rene does. He looks vulnerable, like a dog waiting to be kicked. Rene knows people tend to get that look because they’ve been kicked before, but it’s none of his business if someone’s hurt Evan.

Rene might be an asshole, and he might not like humans, but he’s not going to kick a guy who just blew his mind out of bed.

“I’m a grown man. I don’t have hissy fits,” Rene says, putting his arm around Evan, manhandling him until they are both lying down. Then he grabs a blanket and throws it over them.

“Is that your way of saying you’re cool with me crashing here?” Evan asks.

“I might get horny again. Might as well keep you till morning,” Rene says, not wanting to admit he’s just making the effort not to be a jerk.
