Chapter 16- Facing Reality

I can barely contain my excitement as me and Garbhan are walking back to the inn. I can view anyone's information while they were in my Mana Glimpse. Without hesitation, I focus on Garbhan.

Race: Elf

Class: Alchemy LVL ???

Subclass: Sage LVL???

Health: 2000

Mana: 2500

I figured that as Garbhans' classes were much more higher than mine, I couldn't see his levels but his health and mana were visible.

Wait, I could see what his first class was, even though he never told me.

I smiled at the implications of what I could now do to scout the enemies information.

Making it back to the inn, I use Mana Glimpse on Asa.

Name: Asa

Race: Beast-Kin

Class: Boxer LVL 1

Health: 300

Mana: 100

No Active Blessings/Curses

So when they're under my level I could see any blessings or curses they had and their class level was revealed.

Compared to Garbhan, her Health and Mana were low.

I wonder if all spells have the passives that increase mana or health like mine. Thinking about it I brought up my spells and looked at the passive gains.

-Blessing of the Elk (Speed is now boosted by 10%)

- Blessing of the Stone Armor (Physical resistance is increased by 10%)

-Blessing of Health Increase (Increases targets health by 20)

- Curse of the Tortoise (Movement speed is reduced by 10%)

- Curse of Reduction (Physical damage is increased by 10%)

- Curse of the Health Decrease (Decreases a targets health by 20)

From leveling, I found that the higher the level on a skill the passive also increased in strength as well. Starting at 5% more mana until maxed at level 10 being 50%.

-Mana Manager (Mana pool increases by 10% per level)

- Mana Glimpse (You are hidden by targets who classes are at least 2 levels higher. The lower between primary or subclass)

I grinned as I realized that as I increased by spells and skills by tiers, the base number would increase too.

Meaning my potential to grow was as limitless as the system as long as I kept getting skills and spells.

Asa started blushing and fidgeting because she was under my intense gaze while I was smiling like a buffoon.

"Um, are you ok Mister Eric?" One could get the wrong idea as to what happened, so I try to make myself not look perverted.

"Oh sorry Asa, I skipped breakfast so I'm losing focus pretty easily."

"Oh ok. Mom was going to start cooking in a moment so all I can tell you is to be patient."

After getting around an almost awkward situation, me and Garbhan eat dinner, then return to our rooms.

I can't sleep though, as I'm eager to still see what I can do.

While training Mana Sense, it leveled faster the more targets there were to sense.

My range started at 5 meters but with Mana Glimpse it upgraded to 15.

I gaze out the window, to a brightly lit night, with practically no one around.

I extend my Mana Glimpse to the furthest range, mana signatures come into focus that I position using a mental map.

On this map I notice that are 5 extremely red dots. Focusing on them their status comes up.

Confused, I notice two of the pings rapidly head towards where I am.

Panicking, I realized my mistake was that they were way above my level and have definitely sensed me back, I try to hide under my bedsheets pretending to be sleep facing the wall.

Seconds later, the wind blows from the window with absolute silence, but I can feel their presence.

Everything is still as I desperately try to pretend to sleep until I feel hands on my back, yanking me to the floor.

He pulls me to my feet where he gets a good look at me, in return, I just see a black mask.

I open my mouth to try to reason with him but see movement next to my face.

I drop to the floor, pain assaulting my nose, and realized he just punched me.

Not giving me any time to recover, the second guy kicks my exposed stomach, and the two begin to beat the shit out of me.

Bleeding and dazed, I have no idea how long they were beating me before I feel someone grab me by the hair pulling me up to match his face, that I try to see but it's blurry and unfocused.

"Keep your magic to yourself while in our city. Don't let there be a next time."

He drops my head which lands with a thud, and he vanishes with his partner. I don't move, or rather I'm unable to move, so I pull up my status.

Mana: 1000/1000

I try to get up, but the pain is unbearable in my legs, painfully, I look and notice there both in positions they shouldn't be.

I felt that if I fell asleep as I was right now, I would most likely die.

I cast the Blessing of Enhance Health and cast Blessing of the Elk on myself.

I slowly felt relief circulate throughout my body. I struggle to stay awake as I crawl towards the door to call for help, but I bang my injured leg on the table, pain making me black out.
