THE WHITE CASTLE

Simon was a senior vampire, but his stamina was still better than humans, and that's why he managed to drive the car to the city at dawn.

Thankfully, Evie only had one schedule at Barevale Town, and that was the fan meeting that was held yesterday. Therefore, there wouldn't be any problems even if they returned to Northshear today.

The car was parked in front of the Bancroft family's White Castle. The name of the vampires' residence was indeed simple. It was all white, and that was why the owners called it The White Castle. It was a Western-style building that had four floors, and that was why it looked so tall just like a castle when the car stopped in front of it.

Simon got out of the car first, and he immediately walked to the back seat before opening the car door for his master.

Arrogantly, Evie stepped out of the car before giving orders, "Place the werewolf in the dungeon. He is still in his wolf form now due to the effects of the full moon last night, but the effects will wear off when morning comes. We will get into more trouble if we have to deal with his human form outside the dungeon."

The sun still hadn't fully risen in the sky, and that's why Evie believed the werewolf was still in his wolf form even though the trunk of the car had not been opened. Simon must have known about that too, which was why he nodded at the woman before walking to the back of the car and getting ready to open the trunk.

Evie only glanced at the old man, but she didn't plan on waiting until he was done with his work. Instead, she elegantly brought her feet to enter the mansion. Before she could reach the stairs at the front of the mansion, nearly ten burly men lined up to greet her, but she only glanced at them coldly as she stopped walking in front of them.

She lifted her chin as she scanned the men, and she could see how their faces were covered with wounds. She knew that those wounds were the result of last night's mess.

"I apologize for my inability to keep the hostage with us, My Lady," one of the burly men standing in front of the other men embarrassedly uttered an apology, and he couldn't even raise his head to face his boss.

"Do you think my face has been taped into the ground, Vernon? Why do you keep looking at the ground instead of looking at me when I'm right in front of you?" Coldly, Evie asked the question, and the man standing in front of her flinched slightly at the question.

He was Vernon Walter, the head bodyguard at The White Castle. He was a vampire, and it couldn't be said that he was old. He was only slightly older than Evie, and that was why the vitality on his face and body was still visible. However, even healthy men could have fear, and Vernon's fear came in the form of Evie Bancroft.

Evie mercilessly scolded the red-haired man, and the man finally worked up the courage to look up, no longer staring at the ground timidly.

"I apologize, My Lady."

It was the second apology Evie had heard from her underling today, and she looked lazy as she rolled her eyes before continuing to walk up the stairs at the front of the mansion.

"Follow me to my study. Let's talk about the incident in private," the Vampire Queen said as she walked up the stairs that would lead her to the mansion's entrance.

Vernon had no choice now, and that's why he could only follow behind her.

Evie didn't even need to open the front door of the mansion because two men were already there waiting to open it for her. They even bowed their heads toward her, but Evie paid no attention to them as she silently walked past them and continued walking toward the inside of the mansion.

The mansion was large and tall, and even the living room resembled a ballroom in a hotel. There was a spiral staircase that would take one to the second, third, and fourth floors, and Evie kept walking until she reached the stairs.

There was no elevator in the mansion because it was actually an old building, and Evie didn't feel the need to renovate it to keep up with today's trends. That's why she could only rely on the stairs to reach her destination.

The Queen continued walking silently, and following behind her was Vernon Walter, the butler who could only remain obedient under his master's orders. The Queen's destination was on the second floor, and that was why the two of them didn't have to walk too long before they finally reached the room.

Taking the initiative, Vernon politely walked past Evie just as they were almost at the room door, and he held the door open for her. It was not an unusual move from Vernon or any of the other guards at the mansion, and that was why Evie didn't hesitate to walk past the door without saying anything.

The heels of her shoes continued to click on the marble floor as she walked towards a desk in the room, but before reaching the desk, she took off her coat and threw it at Vernon. It was also Evie's habit, and that was why the man had anticipated it as he skillfully caught the coat before hanging it on the coat hook in the room.

Evie looked relaxed after arriving at the study, and she calmly sat down in the chair behind her desk before looking at the man standing in front of the desk.

That room was indeed her study, and that was why it was no wonder that there were more than five bookshelves in the room, and every shelf was full of books.

Ah, maybe it would be wrong to say that the shelves were full of books because there were only comics in that room.

"So, who dared attack Bancroft last night? Are you sure they're human, Vernon?"
