Are Dungeons underground prisons?

As soon as Raizen left the room, he saw people everywhere. All kinds of people in different colours and outfits were loitering around.

Many people were talking with each other while many were doing their own thing. Some stood by the entrance and started shooting "Need party members for level 10 dungeon Goblin's den. Preferences for support"

Raizen was a bit overwhelmed with the number of things happening. As he walked towards the exit, he got many curious glances towards him.

Since the in-game avatars were based on real appearances, he gained a bit of attention due to Natasha's beauty.

Raizen soon exited the hotel. The hotel was a place where players could log out safely and log in again. It also resets their fatigue bar and restores stamina and mana.

He noticed a group of three players who were recruiting players to clear a dungeon.

'Are dungeons underground prisons?' Raizen wondered. Long ago he was mistakenly locked away in an underground dungeon in Paris.

He easily escaped in minutes and while escaping he accidentally met the wife of the king who captured him and had a passionate experience with her.

Lost in his long-lost thoughts he approached the group. He noticed above their head there was their names and something called level.

"Guys, can I come with you to clear this dungeon?" Raizen asked them.

Those guys started to look at him weirdly and started to laugh. Raizen got a bit confused. Was anything he said funny?

"What's wrong guys?" he asked, hoping to understand the situation.

One of the guy coughed a bit and answered "Cabbage Queen, even though you are beautiful you are just level three while the dungeon we are attempting is level 10"

"Oh, is level the number that is floating above your head?" Raizen asked.

'A complete newbie' was the thought everyone at the party had. To think they would enter a complete newbie' here. Still, it was not uncommon since it was just a beginner's village and they themselves were considered newbies to other players.

So sympathising with this poor sister they started to explain it to her.

"Yes, those are levels. You gain levels by killing monsters or completing quests. You are only level 3 but the dungeon we are entering needs to be at least level 10 or else you can't enter it" they explained patiently to this newbie sister.

"Oh, it's like this. So all the dungeons have level restrictions?" Raizen asked.

"Yeah" they answered surprised that this sister got the gist of it so easily.

"Anyway, how do I check my level?" Raizen asked without much thought since he really didn't know how to check it.

"..." the party looked at him dumbfoundedly.

"You really don't know?" they asked, seeking confirmation. Seriously what did this woman do during character creation?

They didn't know that Raizen didn't create the character and was just playing in another's account since it was pretty rare to be playing in another's account.

"You need to call the status sister" one of them answered.

"How do I do it?" Raizen asked innocently.

"Just say status" one of them answered, starting to get a bit impatient.

"Status" Raizen called. Soon he saw a holographic screen in front of him.

Raizen looked at the stat sheet with interest. He basically got the gist of all the stat except mana. He guessed it was related to the magic power.

'So in this game humans could use magic' Raizen thought wondering what would be the reaction of a certain someone if they saw normal humans could use magic. But he didn't know if that certain someone was still alive.

'So, what are quests and inventory?' Raizen thought as suddenly the quest window opened.

[Quests

'So the little girl currently doesn't have any quests. If I take a look at the literal meaning, quests mean searching for something. So will someone ask me to search for something and I would get rewards if I complete it' Raizen thought.

As he moved around the town, deep in his thoughts, he noticed this town, this game and its mechanics were somewhat similar to fantasy literature he had read long ago.

Adventures taking a job and getting rewards for its completion, many blacksmith shops spread through the town, and people selling their goods on either side of the streets.

The town was very lively and joyous. People were everywhere. He also noticed some differences in them. Most of them were adventurer outfits with weapons on them. Some had their names and levels above them while some had only levels.

Raizen guessed they were like him. People who were playing the game. They were very rowdy and many were causing a ruckus everywhere.

Raizen laughed in amusement at the antics of humans. They were always interesting to interact with.

The other type of people did not have anything above them. They were like ordinary residents each doing their own jobs. Some interacted with the players while others did their own thing. It was like they were in their daily livelihood.

'Are they residents of this world?' Raizen had this weird thought.

As he was looking around curiously and lost in his thoughts, he failed to see a man running towards him in a hurry.

Due to being not attended to human senses, he didn't notice the man up until he crashed into him.

Raizen quickly regained his balance and looked at the man. He was in a soldier outfit with silver Armor and helmet. There was also an insignia on his chest and on his shield.

He also had a sword strapped to his waist. Raizen recognised his outfit. Many people wearing this armour were spread throughout the town.

They maintained order and took action if players went out of control. Raizen guessed they were the guards.

"Sorry adventure, I am in a hurry so please forgive my clumsiness earlier" he quickly apologised to Raizen.
