Chapter 38: Calling for Maintenance

I woke up sweating and my heart racing in my chest. I shot out of bed, half deliriously aiming towards my bathroom without another thought in my head.
It was still dark, and I ran through the open bedroom door, in my mind expecting there to be stairs to take me down the loft. Nope, no stairs. Instead, I overcorrected and stepped down too hard, sending myself tumbling into a shelf of trinkets.
I scrambled to catch everything but didn't save one of his guitars which hit the floor with a dramatic clang that reverberated throughout the apartment. At this point, I knew I had woken Rilian up.
"Uh, babe?" he asked, carefully approaching me.
"Sorry!" I exclaimed, "I was looking for the shower!"
I frantically began stripping off my clothes, and Rilian stood there with his eyes wide, looking a little surprised.
"Not that I don't approve, but the hallway is a hell of a place to get naked," Rilian laughed, pulling me into his arms.
