"What's wrong?" Kalina asked Dominique, her voice tinged with concern and her brows furrowed in worry.
He had been quiet since they left the Bridge of Locks, lost in his thoughts. His silence and distant demeanor made her nervous. "Are you okay?" she asked again when he didn't respond, her eyes searching his face intently.
"What?" He looked at her, his eyes snapping back into focus as he realized she was speaking to him.
"I asked if you were okay," she repeated, her eyes wide with concern and her lips slightly parted in anticipation of his answer.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he smiled, but it didn't quite reach his eyes, and she could see the tightness around his mouth.
"Are you sure?" She looked at him skeptically, her head tilted slightly as she scrutinized his face. "Is it because of the Bridge of Locks incident? If it is, you don't have to read too much into it, okay? It's not that big of a dea—"
