The next morning, I received a call from the hospital.

"Is that Mike's family? We have some papers for you to sign. Can you come by before five?"

"Okay."

When I got back to the office, I happened to overhear some of my colleagues talking.

"The Duncan family is so lucky!"

"You bet it is."

"If Carol Duncan hadn't married Mr. Capentar, the Duncan Group wouldn't have had a chance of securing these projects last year".

"I heard..."

I walked in. When Annie saw me, she waved her hand and said, "Susie, I was just looking for you. The Purchasing Department said that they were going out for dinner tonight. They invited us."

"Sorry, I'm not available. And I have to leave early."

"I see." Annie smiled at the others and said, "Those men in the Purchasing Department will be disappointed."

I looked at her in confusion.
