Uninvited, A Vampire Becomes Part of My Youth

Hikigaya Hachiman always considers himself to be different from others because of how he views the world. He professes to be a genuine person as he doesn't hide behind a mask. Deep down, of course, he knows he is just afraid to form a meaningful relationship; traumatized by what happened to him and unable to move on. What will happen if Hikigaya Hachiman truly turns into something else that makes him different from others? How will he view the world now that he is not something he used to be? Can he accept himself? How will his change affect the people around him? "So... I am a Vampire now?" --- Disclaimer: Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabukome wa Machigatteiru belongs to Wataru Watari. I am just a mere fan who can't help exploring the possible scenarios that each character could face and how they will react.

Following the conclusion of the decision we reached the day before, we had Zaimokuza and Ebina stand before us. They had prepared some PowerPoint presentations, so we were waiting patiently for one of them to present their suggestion. Zaimokuza happened to be the first presenter but got discouraged because of the attention. I felt responsible for nominating him, so I decided to present his PowerPoint presentation in his stead.

As expected of Zaimokuza, he came up with something that I loved—a Chiba-styled Kibasen (cavalry fight) which was shortened to Chibasen (Chiba fight). It was a special event for the girls, similar to the usual Kibasen but with a lot of Chiba elements. Everyone seemed to agree it was worth considering but also expressed their worry over the safety of the event. Yukino suggested we assign some first responders to the field, solving the worry instantly.

Ebina's presentation came next. She suggested we hold a Bo-taoshi (pole-knocking) event. The rule was not different from the ordinary Bo-taoshi. We had to knock the other team's pole while defending ours. Her presentation would have been perfect if she had stopped there. Unfortunately, she had to explain how 'exciting' it would be to see boys fighting to touch each other's rod (pole). I forcefully dismissed her, causing the males in the room to sigh in relief.

Both of the suggestions were worth considering. The committee discussed it before eventually agreeing to accept the suggestions. That way, the special events for the sports festival were decided to be Chiba-styled Kibasen and Bo-taoshi. The meeting wouldn't be a meeting if some drama didn't occur, of course. While only some of the committee showed distaste, all of the volunteers didn't bother to hide it.

"Excuse me, Minami-chan. Shouldn't we just hold one special event instead of two? I mean, we already have our club events to take care of. To even add two more events on our plate is a bit excessive in my opinion," the girl called Haruka voiced out, which was quite surprising.

"May I add to what Haruka-chan said?" the girl called Yukko said, prompting Sagami to nod. "Moreover, the safety of the girl's special event is a liability. We are not as tough as the boys, so even if we have first responders on standby in the field, the damage done will not be able to be reversed. Why don't we stick to one event only?"

"That's right. I also think it's a bit excessive to hold two events."

"Let's just stick to one event."

"We don't need to make two events to make it a success."

One by one, those who weren't satisfied with the decision spoke up. The problem they got with the decision was that they couldn't laze around. I looked at Sagami to see how she reacted. She looked betrayed by what her two friends had done. I thought she would never recover, but she surprised me by suddenly bowing. Everyone immediately turned silent.

"Please, lend your strength, everyone! I might not be a good chairwoman before, but I will try my best this time. I won't back down like I did before and I will work hard—harder than anyone. So, please, for the sake of the event, lend me your strength and believe in me."

Silence descended upon the room as everyone stared at Sagami with wide eyes. I was quite surprised also but didn't stupidly gape at her like the others. I merely nodded in appreciation and leaned on my chair as everyone reluctantly accepted her request. Most of the committee had seemed to accept her, but the volunteers remained the same. They only became more reserved.

When the meeting ended, Hiratsuka-sensei commended Sagami for her determination. Sagami waved her hand bashfully, saying that she just wanted to prove herself. I noticed she glanced at me as she said that but pretended to not notice. It was still four in the afternoon, so I asked Yukino and Yui to hang out. They agreed and Yui suggested we go to a newly opened café that sold a gigantic parfait.

Komachi happened to have just finished her study session with her friends, so she was still at school. I told her to wait for me as I would pick her up. When I told Yui and Yukino to wait for me in front of the school gate, they were quite confused but agreed nonetheless. I didn't like to flaunt my wealth, which I just recently possessed, but I enjoyed their shocked look greatly when they saw my car.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Get in!" I said, standing beside the driver's door; in other words, right in front of them.

"W- When did you buy a car, Hikki? Also, are you secretly the son of a big company's CEO!?" Yui asked in utter disbelief.

"I've had it for almost a week. Also, I am not the son of a CEO—I am the CEO."

"Aren't you filthy rich!?"

"Yukino is too. Why do you sound surprised," I retorted.

"That car can buy ten of my family's limousines, Hachiman-kun. We are not the same," Yukino countered with a wry look.

"Whatever, right? Just get in!"

Yui entered the car nervously, followed by the calm Yukino. It was quite surprising that Komachi reacted way more calmly than they did. I had thought Yukino was already used to riches, but she also couldn't wrap her mind around the fact that someone was willing to spend over one million dollars on a car. I would have been surprised too if I wasn't used to Kiss-Shot's wealth. Given how much money she had, buying my car was no different from buying a candy.

Ignoring the curious stares I got from the students, I entered the car and pulled down the door. Quickly stepping on the pedal, my car headed to Komachi's school. Yukino warned me to be careful as sports cars were designed to run fast, prompting me to tell her not to worry. Yui then asked me how I obtained my license and I told her what I told Komachi. She then asked me if I was indeed a CEO. I waited for Yukino to give Yui the answer, but she didn't. I only gave Yui a vague answer, but from the looks of it, she believed I was one.

When we arrived at Komachi's school, I immediately got out of the car and waited for her while leaning on it. Some students were still at the school. They shot curious glances at me, but I ignored them. At that moment, I realized that I shouldn't have come out of the car. Koenigsegg Gemera only had two doors despite being a four-seater car. Therefore, if I opened one of the doors, everyone outside would be able to partly see who was in the back seats. I would attract more unnecessary attention if these students saw Yui and Yukino.

Alas, the die has been cast. Forgetting what was to come after, my eyes lit up when I saw my beloved sister. She cheerfully ran to me and then jumped at me when she was before me. I hugged her until I was satisfied, ignoring the look everyone gave us. When I let her go, I could see her red face. She must have just realized what she had initiated in public. I chuckled and then patted her head to calm her down.

As soon as Komachi entered the car and closed the door, I stepped on the pedal. I input the café Yui was talking about in the GPS and immediately provided me with the route. The way there was quite lively as Komachi talked with Yui and Yukino. No one included me in their talk, maybe, because they were afraid of making me lose focus. It also might be because they were talking about me.

Oy, oy. Don't you think it will also distract me?

After fifteen minutes of driving, we finally arrived at the cafe. It was a two-storied café called St. Marc Café. It was thankfully a quiet café. It was quite a popular café but not crowded. Upon entering, I asked one of the employees if they had a premium booth for four. She answered that the café didn't have it, but there was a premium table available on the second floor. It was fine, so I told her to lead the way.

When we sat down, the employee waited patiently for our order. The girls ordered the two variations of the gigantic parfait. I wanted to taste the parfait too but also ordered some macarons and a crème brulée. The café didn't sound French, so I wondered how good their French desserts were. I was expecting them to mess it up, though.

"How is the exam preparation going, Komachi-chan?" Yui asked.

"I am not ready! I can't learn a single thing," Komachi answered in exasperation.

"Does Hachiman-kun not help you?" Yukino asked, looking at me disapprovingly.

"He helps a lot, but without his teaching, I don't understand a thing. I want to be independent, so it has been bothering me."

"I am an amazing teacher, aren't I?" I gloated.

"The fact that your student becomes hopeless without you proves otherwise, Hachiman-kun."

"…touché."

In the end, Komachi decided to ask Yukino's help to solve some of the problems she couldn't solve while waiting for their orders. Yukino guided Komachi carefully through the steps, giving her enlightenment. Unfortunately, the Enlightenment was only reserved for that one problem. They went back to ground zero in the next problem.

Komachi was saved from Yukino's lecture by the arrival of our orders. She immediately kept her books in her bag and then urged everyone to enjoy the parfait. Yukino didn't seem willing at first but relented eventually. When they tasted their parfait, they immediately forgot their surroundings. Seeing their reaction, I also tasted my crème brulée.

All in all, today was a surprisingly decent day.
