Chapter 9 : Enter! Wandless wonders

August 27. 1986

Antares POV

Wandless magic is in many fanfictions explained as an intent, a want to do something. Meaning that magic that is in out body, will do whatever we want it to. We just have to guide it and give it purpose.

I want my magic to act like a cloud of gas. When it leaves my body it will assume a form of a cloud that will do my binding. Levitation? The cloud will wrap itself around the object and then tighten.

I started with meditation again. But now I was searching for my core. I haven't done this before so it took time. Luckily Felix was there to help me.

With his help I found my core pretty quickly. My core was around the size of a pool ( table ) ball. I don't have anyone to measure against, so I don't know how good or bad it is. It was light and looked fluffy. I, I don't know if they are supposed to be fluffy, but I am not complaining. I wanted to touch it for that reason alone. When I touched it I was immediately feeling calm. I was at peace and I didn't want to leave it, ever.

It took few tries ( read hours ) before I could touch it without feeling overwhelmed by the sheer bliss I have gotten from it.

It took more times ( read days ) to access it without meditation. But once I've gotten hang on it, it had better calming effect than occlumency.

Next step I thought of was hard. It was spreading magic through my whole body. Like creating a new nerve system. The training was hard and exhausting. But I felt my core slightly expanding. Magic really is like a muscle.

Next came keeping magic at one point. First, move your magic to only one spot in your body. Then cut off the link between your core and the spot. The point was to keep the magic in one spot without having to keep supplying it.

After that I tried to repeat the previous exercise but this time with two spots instead of one.

When I was finally satisfied with my progress I started to use my magic to lighten up my fingers.

Lumos, you could say. But I want it to be light without associating it with the Lumos spell. Like wands, words are only crutches to help you get something you want.

After three hours of nonstop practicing I can make my finger softly glow for about five seconds. It's more exhausting than moving my magic through my body. If I had to guess it's probably because I'm making the effect outside of my body.

I continued with the lighting up about a month before it reached, in my opinion, acceptable results. I now could hold the light for about ten minutes without stopping, then I ran out of magic.

With all this training my core expanded a lot. Before it was the size of a pool ball, now it's size of a baseball ball. It may seem small but I exhaust quickly and my core restores slowly and it's only half the original.

With acceptable results in lighting up my finger it was time to start with levitation. As stated before, the further my magic has to reach the harded it's to control it. I started with a piece of parchment few inches in front of me and gradually increased the distance.

About a month later I could easily levitate things under 5 pounds that are not too far away. I continued with my lighting up training too and now I could keep the light going for about twenty minutes.

When I didn't practice my wandless magic, I continued my studying.

In potions I practiced preparing potion ingredients. I was at first going to ask for potion kit and immediately start brewing, but it was stopped before it even begun.

Mom said that it's nice that I know a lot about potions and ingredients from books, but that I still need to learn how to properly prepare them and even then I will need supervisor. It's definitely better that I first had to prepare the ingredients, some of those things were pretty gross and I would surely freeze and then I wouldn't even touch them. In that moment I was really thankful for the gloves I was wearing and that I wasn't brewing anything. My potion by that time would be destroyed.

That made me stop a think about how Hogwarts handled students that refused to touch anything what looked gross or what they considered disgusting. I had to held back a wince when I thought about how Snape would react to something like that.

In runes I already learned Elder Futhark. By learned I mean I recognised what each means on first glance now. I know what each stand for but I still haven't gotten into combining them and making functioning runes. Now I just read texts and then I translate them.

Herbology is fine, but I'm horrible at it. The plants while fun just seems to die under my touch. Well I'm now pretty sure my skills with plants remained from my previous life.

Arithmancy was finally explained to me! The numbers I didn't make any sense of weren't numbers at all! Yes, they may look like numbers but in reality they are runes. Numerical runes to be exact. For example number zero represents the demiguise's ability to make itself invisible. That's why in the equation for disillusionment charm is zero rather often included. At least I understand it now.

! Interlude !

Getting on broom for my first time was, I, I don't even know how to describe it properly. I'm normally rather scared of heights. Maybe it was because when I was high up I usually didn't have any control of the situation, I was dependant either on another person, and I'm not exactly the most trusting person, or some kind of railing. But when I gotten on the broom something else was registered in my mind; freedom. Complete utter freedom. Nothing was holding me back. For the first time in both of my life's I felt complete. When I was in the air nothing mattered.

The rest of the day was, surprisingly, spend in the air.

Somehow done, next time time skip. I didn't check my grammar or if the story makes sense, so deal with it.
