Chapter 3 GETTING A JOB

Grace returns with a cup of coffee and places it in front of Jamie.

" heard your Ma had a heart attack. hope she's doing good"

" yeah. I actually came to town to look for a nurse for her. Think you could recommend someone".

" got no one in mind but will ask around".

" thanks Gracie".

Jamie stands up leaves while Laura thinks to herself that she might take up the opportunity as it could fetch her good money to move on to the next town. Gracie noticed her looking towards the direction Jamie headed off to.

" that's Jamie Walter, a marine and he owns the ranch at the foot of the faith mountain ".

" thanks. how much is my bill"

" fifty bucks".

Laura opens her purse and frowns she drops the bill which includes cash and some coins, picks up her bag and leaves with her head down. She sees Jamie going around the corner to get his car and runs after him. She calls his name though he doesn't turn or stop but keeps walking. She catches up to him when he was about opening his car door.

He stares at her as she tries to catch her breath while holding the door. She gathers courage and speaks up.

" umh.. I'm Laura. I heard you say you need a nurse to care for your mom till she recovers, actually I'm a nurse and though I have never worked in a hospital but I was my grandma's personal nurse when she was sick and I also took care of my grandpa when he had a heart attack after my grandma passed on.
