Chapter 4
The stairway down into the cellar was oddly clean, but the deeper he went the more green vegetation could be seen growing around the walls making it clear that he had given up on cleaning it. The smell of rotting copper and iron was strong deeper he got ignoring its stench, before it randomly faded once touching the stone floor bottom making him stop as his head began to scan around. This cellar was massive stretching out for several feet almost like a underground house, but that wasn't the thing that made his stomach turn.
"Cells and cages.. What kind of kinky dungeon does this guy even have?" Dan jokingly thought not really laughing at his own joke, as his attention was fixated elsewhere taking pictures once starting to walking around taken by the amount of skeletons he was starting to find, and they most definitely didn't belong to any animal. So the blood that was on his hands earlier must've belonged to a living being, possibly a human being.
However, things became even more darker when the sound of chains could be heard banging, clanking together as if something was trying to break free from the far end of the cellar in a much bigger and more tougher bar like cage covered in darkness, but a single shuckle could be seen slowly shuffling to whatever it was moving. Dan kept away at first taking extreme caution when approaching the cage unable to get a proper glance at whatever was hiding in the darkest parts of the cellar.
"Hello.." he calmly spoke as bright deep blue eyes shined through the darkness near the floor darting its attention towards him, followed by a low growl revealing threatening behaviour refusing to show that it is an easy target. "I am not here to harm you, but to possibly help escape this horrid place if you start to cooperate with me" Dan added keep his cool as whatever was hiding stood up dragging the chains as its eyes stopped glowing allowing only footsteps and chains to be heard, slowly approaching him with caution.
"Help?" A feminine like voice spoke up until coming into view revealing a bruised, traumatised beige skinned woman. Her waist long dark maroon hair appeared to have been ragged, as those Silvery-grey eyes remained on edge unsure if he was telling the truth, while chains could be seen connected to both of her ankles, wrists and neck keeping her firmly in place like some sort of monster.
"Wait.. You're that missing woman, right? Blaire Ali isn't it? Everyone thinks you're dead, and yet here you are locked up in a cage within your own brother's cellar. Weird" Dan questioned instantly seeing the similarities she shared with Avery, but locked up has ready done a number on her mental health and trust in others.
"Why are you here? He's going to catch you too! Now go before you end up in a cage like me. It isn't safe here anymore" Blaire started to warn him grabbing onto the bars of her cage hearing the distant sound of someone rushing down the stairs. "Hide.. Quickly! He's coming" she whispered causing Dan to slightly panic as he went invisible forcing himself into Blaire's cage, while she backed up knowing he won't be able to see her in the back.
"Who's the heck is down here?! You better not steal anything you thief!" Kai yelled storming through before sensing a ghostly presence instantly transforming revealing his black and white patched skin, short black and red flame looking like hair that cannot be put out with fire or braided, and his now fiery orange eyes.
"I can sense that he's strong, this must be what Vlad was telling me about" Dan thought staying there visible near Blaire's cage when he heard Kai's footsteps rush over allowing the big strong fighters to stand face-to-face.
"Who the heck are you?" Kai sounded sour not liking the idea of having such a strong ghost here in his cellar, let alone talking to his victim. He glared over at Blaire who quickly backed away from the bars clearly scared of him in some way and walked towards her. "How many times do I have to tell you! No one is going to save you, and once this rat is taken care of you are next! Or do you want something bad to happen to your precious little baby?" He teased as he started to laugh in her face not only making Blaire mad, but Dan as well who know exactly what he's referring to.
"You wouldn't dare" Blaire growled coming up to the bars again confronting Kai, which brought a cocky smirk on his face knowing she can't do anything while chained up against her will, but who said she would be the one doing the punching?
Out of nowhere Dan dashed at Kai at high speed, and punching him directly in the side of his face with the hatred he held for them, sending him back flying into the cellar wall creating a big crater that had his body imprinted into it as some parts of the ceiling started to crumble from the impact, while Dan's red eyes began to glow with violent intentions.
"No on is touching that child. Over my dead body!" Dan growled staring Kai down who didn't appear to be moving, giving him the opportunity to grab onto the bars and bend two of them open allowing him to enter inside as she forced herself back unsure of what he was intending to do.
"Stay away from me" Blaire said backing up as he sighed and grabbed the chains that held her bound to this cell and started to pick lock the locks starting the ankles first, followed by the wrists and lastly the neck taking him up to 10 minutes to do before stepping back.
"Your welcome. Now follow me quickly if you want to see your daughter again" Dan said feeling somewhat sympathetic for the woman and how long she was forcefully kept away from her own child for 2 years, and now they're about to be reunited again. Blaire started to follow behind him throughout the cellar, but as they started to approach the stairs Dan started to stumble on his feet before suddenly collapsing to the ground with a loud thud. She rushed over checking his pulse seeing that it was steady, but how are they going to make it up the stairs.
"I hate it when i'm weak like this.. It's embarrassing" Blaire thought with a scoff as she rolled him onto his back and put her hand under his shoulder blades and started to drag his body to the first step, she felt the struggle like lifting a grate dane up the stairs or possibly an elephant from how big and muscular he was. "The paralysis kicked in this big ass of a man. I'm left dragging the guy that saved me who is probably the heaviest guy ever. And soon Kai is going to wake up and kill us if I don't get him outside in the next 15 minutes" she said to herself aware of the affect Kai's venom has and how long it lasts depending on the target in question.
She was near the top when a low groan echoed causing her to stop for a moment before starting to panic and put in more effort, despite already breathing heavily and struggling to keep conscious feeling rather nauseous. Once the last step was made she then chose to only grab Dan's wrist and drag him through the house after slamming the cellar door shut, applying only 2 locks to keep him back for a few minutes.
"Come oooon!" she whined managing to get to the front door escaping to freedom when hearing him starting to bash at the door with everything he had, giving only minutes or possibly seconds until he breaks free and gets them. Dan let out a soft groan ever so slowly come back from the venom within his system feeling the gentle night breeze touched his skin knowing someone had came to help, but he was still unsure of who.
"BLAIRE?!" Kai roared as the cellar door was torn down seeing the front door wide open and rushed over spotting her dragging Dan halfway down the pathway that led into the forest near the town, but when she glanced up spotting Kai glaring at them she slowly laid Dan down on the ground watching as her own brother began to storm his way over. "You are in a lot of trouble once I take out this green slob" he growled bringing out his claws ready to tear Dan open without a care for fair play until Blaire stood up and got in the way, causing him to stop as she stood there in front of Dan's unconscious body. "Really? You're running out of energy and are on the verge of collapsing, do you really think I can't just throw you out of my way? You're not as strong as you used to be, but I want to keep it that way for as long as I can. Now move!" he stepped forward trying to get her to step back or flinch, but no reaction was made other than a serious intense death stare from Blaire herself.
"I know I'm weak at the moment because of you, but it doesn't matter. Karma is going to give it to you hard once we're done, trust me I know" Blaire replied darting at her with the intention to fight as she managed to catch both of his hands causing both of theirs to intertwine. He started to tightly clench willing to break his own sister bone by bone as she bit her tongue refusing to give him what he wanted, she clenched back as a little park of electricity quickly flashed through her body from the deep blue core that started to show some shining parts of yellow before it touched Kai. He was then struck by a high current of volts as he yelled in pain feeling this power come from such a weak link.
"H-how..?" he struggled to speak as she continued to shock him, feeling herself slowly starting to slip, but a mother's determination can do a lot in a situation like this.
Dan slowly started to open his eyes vividly seeing Kai getting shocked hearing his screams somewhat brought relief, along with the outdoor air brushing against his face as the venom finally left giving him full control of his body. He got slowly got back onto his feet as Kai kicked Blaire into Dan, but he managed to catch her seeing how much weaker she had became, and glared directly at Kai who has been weakened enough for him to finish.
"Let me deal with him, I'll see to you after I deal with this bastard" Dan said sitting Blaire down to aside keeping his eyes on the target, already knowing it won't be long until she passes out, but as long as she's alive nothing else at this moment matters. "Now where were we?" he added cracking his own neck and knuckles with a cocky grin when seeing the looking on Kai's face, and dealt with him accordingly. Chasing him off through a mysterious portal that quickly closes, as fast as Kai went through it.
Blaire by the time he got to her was laid on the pathway floor uncomfortable, in pain and slipping in and out of unconsciousness when he picked her up and headed back home laying her on his bed, secretly getting some help from his sister Jasmine who helped sort her out while Dan held Avery who couldn't help, but watch as her own mother fights to survive. He wasn't only grateful for Blaire's bravery to stand up to her own brother despite being in pain and weakened for Kai's own gain for power, but respect when seeing a possible warrior in the woman who put her own life to save another who she knew nothing about, and if it wasn't for her he knew he might've not made it back home tonight.
