Underwater Evolution: Infernal Depths

#apocalypse #mystery #evolution #survival #weakToStrong #romance #action #andMuchMore "Well, I just wrote this because I came up with the plot while working on another novel, and I felt the need to write it. I won’t upload frequently since it's just a side project, but I think it has potential. Maybe it’s just me, though. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Who knows? It might even become one of my main works later on. There’s no synopsis yet, but if you're curious about it, feel free to dive in and check it out. Thanks for reading! (≧∇≦)ノ"

Assimilation

In the end, Kyle put that issue aside and remembered that he had a pending reward. He wasn't expecting anything special, since, as an initial part of the game, going through the tutorial he could only choose things like getting basic skills, increasing his storage capacity, or a level five red-ranked weapon.

He tried to say the commands since as usual the interface was not like operating it on a computer.

"Reward, open, storage, messages, pending..."

But, just like before, nothing happened. Then he remembered what the voice had mentioned earlier....

"Open privileges."

Instantly, options appeared:

"W-wait is this it?...it-it's-it's real!"

Kyle couldn't believe it. What he had listed, on that transparent blue screen were things he could only get in the final parts of the game.

Many of these options were rewards that could only be acquired after completing the game in hell mode.

Some things he didn't even know what they were, as this was the first time he had heard of them, Kyle Was beginning to realize that perhaps his knowledge of the game wasn't as accurate in this new reality, and that he needed to adapt quickly.

He looked at the list, knowing he would only have one chance to choose well. The "three lives" caught his attention immediately; in the game, characters only had three lives or rather could take lethal damage three times before dying and going to a save point.

Kyle wouldn't risk finding out if he really had three lives so having extra lives was literally that. In fact Kyle couldn't say that the rest of the stuff wasn't good, in fact it caught his attention even though he knew nothing about it, just from the name alone he could sense that it was amazing stuff, but right now his life came first, and at first glance that privilege was the most striking thing to him.

However, he couldn't overlook another even more crucial option: "Five Colored Eyes."

He thought carefully. Having three lives might be valuable, but it was no guarantee of survival, since every time he died he might reappear in the same place as in his game, at the risk of being attacked again.

Instead, the Five Colored Eyes were an ability designed in the game precisely to avoid dying as much as possible, it was an object that was unlocked only at the end of the game, and was able to facilitate navigation in the 'hell mode' full of dangers from the beginning.

Even though they were "Four Colored Eyes" in the game, something told him that the change to five might be even better.

"haber...humm, having three lives or improving my chance of survival..."

Kyle was in a dilemma, there was also the option to be stronger by choosing other privileges, but if he thought about it, if this situation is like his game he could eventually get most of them at least the ones he recognized , but besides ending the game once Kyle had no idea how to get that ability, he carefully thought about the pros and cons, until he finally decide

[You have acquired the Five-Colored Eyes, preparing for assimilation...].

"Assimilation of what? What do you mean by that....Aaaah!"

Kyle had barely finished processing the message when an indescribable pain exploded in his eyes, as if a thousand burning needles were piercing every fiber of his ocular nerves.

"gyaaaa!!!, what is this , stop, stop, stop, ace make it stop!!!"

Kyle had forgotten something important, he wasn't behind a screen and controlling the character he was the character, This world wasn't game where you just learn a skill and that's it, it was something real and Kyle clearly understood that like never before.

"stop, stop, please!!!"

Kyle's pain It was a deep, piercing, visceral agony, so real that he felt a desperate urge to gouge his eyes out to stop the torment, but with tenacity he obtained himself from doing so.

He had not survived the fifty mutant tuna, he would not give up, he would not be incapacitated by a bounty that was supposed to strengthen him, not destroy him.

"gyaaaaaaa...haaaa....gaaaa""

Time stopped making sense. seconds, minutes, hours? Everything melted into an endless moment of pure pain. Kyle was trapped in that prison of suffering, gasping, unable to think of anything but the agony pulsing from his head.

His body trembled, his muscles contracted, and his mind was pushed to the limit, even his head felt as if they were performing surgery without anesthesia, it was pain like never before, losing all sense of reality.

Finally, when the scream in her throat died down, replaced only by a hoarse moan, the pain out of nowhere simply disappeared, she felt nothing as if the extreme pain of a few seconds ago was her imagination.

the disappearance of the pain was so abrupt that he didn't know how to feel or describe it, now he didn't feel even the slightest discomfort, besides his sore throat

"...haa... haa..."

his gasps were the only sounds he managed to emit and a sign that what happened before was not his imagination. The experience had scarred him, a memory of pain so vivid that it would cling to his mind like a scar.

For nothing in the world would he ever want to experience anything like it again, and he would seriously hesitate if he found the opportunity to gain another ability. He took a deep breath, still trembling, and looked down at his condition, hoping that the suffering had served some purpose.

Kyle checked his status again and confirmed that, just like in his game, the skill "Five Colored Eyes" would help him survive longer by allowing him to stay away from dangerous areas and inadvertently get into a place that would kill him, instantly.

Kyle was in an unknown environment and didn't know where to go, he was hoping to find cities or resting points, at least somewhere where humans could be relatively safe like in his game, which had a few of these.

This was not a semi-linear world like his game; and he didn't know if the danger level was level with his level here, he could head in any direction and encounter unexpected dangers. However, the Five-Colored Eyes would allow him to identify danger and increase his chances of survival.

Still with his eyesight blurred red from the blood that had gushed from his eyes after gaining the ability, Kyle tried to wipe it away. It was annoying and difficult to see clearly; everything seemed to be tinged with red, except for his status screen, which he did manage to see well.

"Wait!... red!!... no!, it can't be," Kyle thought.

The realization, he was a little late if the red showing in his eyes wasn't blood, he was in a really dangerous situation.

Without wasting time, he grabbed his hook-sword and peeked out the window that was on the fallen top of a ruined building. It was not far from where the fight with the tuna was, at least he could look at the place from the window and what he saw made his blood run cold.
